About the role

RESPONSIBILITIES
The ideal candidate would lead and provide day-to-day management of projects with the oversight of the Michael Baker project / program principal, as well as interact with current and potential clients and regulatory agencies. The candidate should be capable of working in an office environment with the ability to interact remotely across Michael Baker’s enterprise. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Manage projects within the requirements of Michael Baker’s project management program and processes.
  • Assist with project planning for large and complex projects by determining scope, schedule, funding limitations, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project.
  • Establishes work plan for large and complex projects, arranges for staffing for each phase of project, and arranges for recruitment or assignment of project personnel.
  • Develops/implements project plans/methodologies for large and significantly complex projects.
  • Confer with project staff to outline workplan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority; Manage project resources, including all indirect resources.
  • Lead and direct project tasks to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
  • Reviews status reports prepared by project personnel and modify schedules or plans as required.
  • Prepare project reports for management, clients, or others, and perform complex cost management analysis.
  • Develop and maintain client engagement to ensure satisfaction; acts as a strategic partner with clients.
  • Identify new business opportunities and position Michael Baker for selection through client relationship building and influencing selection processes.
  • Manage and coach project teams by providing technical advice and assisting in problem solving at an advanced level.
  • Coordinates project activities with government regulatory or other agencies.
  • Conducts safety meetings to ensure safety requirements are met.
  • Occasional to moderate travel may be required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A 4-year or advanced degree civil engineering. 
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years of professional experience preferred. 
  • Documented experience in leading, managing or administering federal (UFC based) projects or in delivery of civil engineering in support of federal contracts.
  • Professional Engineering registration; or ability to obtain within the first year of employment.
  • Experience with NAVFAC ATLANTIC, NAVFAC Washington or MIDLANT is considered highly desirable.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage teams across multiple offices and with several subconsultants
  • Establish clear lines of communications within project team and with client for free flow of information
  • Keen understanding of team dynamics and strengths to assign tasks properly and efficiently
  • Demonstrated intimate familiarity with client’s requirements, challenges, and key areas of interest for growth
  • Demonstrated ability to properly address and manage change
  • Demonstrated mastery of problem—solving, negotiations and decision making

COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position is $115,064 - $179,917. This will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.
