WIlliams College ‘62 Center for Theatre and Dance seeks a Communications and Programming Manager. This position will oversee the communication strategy and implementation for the Theatre and Dance Departments as well as the professional visiting artist series. This role will also participate in the selection of visiting artists as well as associated programming related to those artists with goals of creating context and making meaning for students and other audience members attending events.
The Communications and Programming Manager will support the mission of the college to provide a nurturing educational environment. Responsibilities:
Actively pursue innovative marketing strategies
Create and implement a comprehensive marketing plan, in consultation with Williams College Communications Office
Create programs, posters, and digital assets
Work closely and collaboratively with faculty, staff and visiting artists
Hire students to create a marketing team, particularly in social media
Coordinate photographers and videographers to document performances and events; administer digital assets
Collaborate with a visiting artists programming committee
Maintain strong connections with regional and national professional organizations and regional arts and educational institutions
Coordinate visiting artist series workshops, class visits, and post-show Q&A; involving relationships with various campus offices
Attend some events on nights and weekends, including occasional travel to venues in nearby cities
Qualifications:
Minimum 2-5 years of directly related experience
Excellent writing and copy editing skills
Excellent interpersonal written and verbal communication skills
Specialized experience in marketing including generation of marketing materials and utilization of social media
Experience evaluating professional performing arts for quality as well as alignment with artistic and educational value
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented organization
Application review will begin on August 15, 2025. Pay range is from $75,000 - $85,000, commensurate with experience.
This is a new position which will be hired as a one-year term in an effort to confirm this new direction best serves the work of the ‘62 Center. During this term, the possibility of becoming a permanent appointment will be evaluated.
This is a full-time (40 hours per week), fully in-person, 12-month position. The appointment end date is 09/26/2026, contingent upon funding. You will be eligible for Williams College’s robust benefits package designed to support you in your work and overall health and wellness.
