Position: Director of the Faculty Center (12-Month, Full-Time)
Effective Date: On or about July 1, 2025
Salary Range: The Department Chair (12-Month) classification salary is $118,596 to $226,584/per year (12 monthly payments per year). The anticipated hiring range is $140,004 to $160,008/per year. Salary offered is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications:           

  • Appropriate terminal degree, with successful university teaching experience, service, and a record of scholarly/creative activity that would warrant a tenured position at the Full Professor level in one of the disciplines of the university. (Notice: Associate Professor rank will be considered if candidate meets eligibility for CSULB requirements for the rank of tenured Full Professor including teaching, research, and scholarly service)
  • Knowledge of models of faculty development and the range of programs in the field of professional development
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of best practices for integrating diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion into faculty development programs
  • Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population, including low socioeconomic and first-generation students

Preferred Qualifications

  • A record of attracting external grant funding in support of faculty professional development
  • Experience creating, implementing, supervising, or overseeing faculty professional development opportunities
  • Demonstrated leadership in an academic community, including the ability to work across divisions, colleges, and disciplines in a shared governance environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, and administrators
  • Knowledge of the needs and issues of a socioeconomically diverse and first-generation student body
  • Demonstrated interest in fostering a supportive and nurturing academic, intellectual, and social environment for faculty development
  • Leadership experience at the college level
  • Demonstrated commitment to student success programs or initiatives that promote access and inclusion for underrepresented and historically marginalized students at the university level
  • Understanding of the Unit 3 collective bargaining environment (e.g., California Faculty Association)

Duties

The Director reports to the Associate Vice President for Faculty Affairs and works with members of the Faculty Center (FC) Advisory Board, FC Project Directors, Deans, Department Chairs, and the Academic Senate Chair, and administrative staff to provide a full range of programs that support all faculty in their multiple roles and responsibilities in the University’s academic community. More specifically, the responsibilities of the Director include:

  • Supervise the day-to-day operations of the FC and making it a visible and an active agent across the University that promotes faculty members’ success and well-being
