The Inn General Manager will be responsible for the day to day operations of a newly renovated luxury small boutique hotel with 17 rooms in Napa Valley. The Inn General Manager is a polished, well-spoken and well-regarded ambassador who carries a strong vision for their hotel. He or she is charged with responsibility for all aspects of operations for the property; providing support, supervision and guidance to their team. He or she will ensure that financial performance is optimized, that high quality product and service levels are maintained, and that the hotel is operated in compliance with state, federal and local regulations as well as Company and brand standards.

 

The Inn General Manager will establish priorities and lead key operational initiatives such as the sales plan and budget development and execution of physical property improvement projects. They will provide hands on leadership to ensure that revenue is maximized while expenses are effectively controlled. They will serve as the linchpin for communications with guests and clients, associates, ownership and key vendors. This is a forward-facing role, making guests feel welcome.

 

Salary: Base $66,560 -$75,000 annually plus performance-based bonus

Responsibilities

Job Functions:

  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.
  • Maintain regular attendance as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
  • Interact with technology providers to ensure proper integration and usage by employees and guests.
  • Manage and/or oversee wedding and event planner relationships.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing a name tag when working.
  • Comply with and ensure adherence to standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Comply with certification requirements as applicable for position to include: Food Handlers, Alcohol Awareness, CPR and First Aid
  • In conjunction with the ownership, conduct a weekly meeting focusing on the number of prospecting and existing account calls each person will make and the potential business results of these calls.
  • Play a pivotal role in hotel sales efforts, including calling on top accounts, meeting clients and meeting with on-site contacts on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
  • Tour the operating departments daily, make adjustments as needed.
  • Conduct daily line up meetings, including weekly training sessions with the goal of maintaining the small luxury boutique hotel standard.
  • Meet all financial review dates in a timely fashion.
  • Hold a monthly financial review with ownership.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures. Oversee and assist in the company budget process as required.
  • Assist in creating a positive team-oriented environment which focuses on the guest, through employee development and motivation.
  • Inspect rooms regularly (weekly at a minimum)
  • Ensure complete processing of invoices daily by using the A/P process.
  • Ensure that all appropriate information for financial documents is received in a timely manner in compliance with the monthly accounting calendar.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the physical property through inspections and preventive maintenance programs with department managers.
  • Ensure that employees are at all times attentive, friendly, courteous and efficient in their interactions with guests, managers and all other employees.

 

Qualifications:

  • At least 4 years progressive experience in a hotel or a related field.
  • Must be proficient in Windows operating systems, Company approved spreadsheets and word processing.
  • Must have valid driver's license for the applicable state.
  • Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
  • Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
  • Must be able to work independently and possess entrepreneurial skills.
  • Must work well in stressful, high pressure situations.
  • Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
  • Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding, clarifying and resolving the concerns and issues raised by co-workers and guests.
  • Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and basic arithmetic functions.
