The Role
As a Principal Product Manager within the Sports organization at Yahoo, you will be responsible for collaborating on a strategy and execution plan to serve sports fans, leading a team of engineers and designers to deliver measurable results. You will build a roadmap that solves the most impactful customer problems, while providing value to the core business. You’ll help create a cohesive vision, as well as define objectives and measurable goals to communicate impact and progress against the roadmap. You’ll collaborate closely with other teams across the Sports organization, as well as other cross-functional partners in engineering, design, marketing, programming, and analytics to develop the set of projects and requirements to execute against. In doing so, you’ll have the ability to leverage the scale and resources of Yahoo’s platform to grow the Sports business. This role will report to the Sr Director of Product, Core Sports.

Product Strategy & Execution
Expertly translates strategic goals into achievable milestone-based initiatives, roadmaps, and technical requirements.
Uses frameworks for prioritization based on business and user needs.
Optimizes the team’s work for driving impact – shipping and learning, making clear decisions on investing or abandoning projects as early as possible based on key results.
Anticipates, captures and communicates the impact of product decisions on revenue and customer experience.
Customer Insights
Demonstrated experience identifying customer problems, and articulating opportunities and potential impact in solving them.
Uses customer feedback and research insights to develop product hypotheses, and strategies to validate them.
Identifies key success metrics at the project level to understand impact, and collaborates with their partners to ensure the measures are trackable and monitored.
Drives product decisions using a heavy dose of data via experimentation or deeper analysis, while not ignoring their strong product intuition.
Team Collaboration
Excellent communicator who can deploy a wide variety of communication approaches based on situation and level to align and mobilize teams against complex initiatives.
Builds strong relationships across functions and organizations through on-time delivery, high quality products, and innovative solutions.
Clearly communicates rationale behind prioritization decisions to senior leadership and key stakeholders, and keeps the organization informed on progress.
Creates artifacts to ensure stakeholders can track decisions and project statuses easily.
Proactively resolves team-level conflicts, and seeks support appropriately.
Successfully influences team members, stakeholders and leaders to support and contribute to strategic initiatives.
Listens, aligns and motivates both individuals and teams around shared goals.
You Must Have:
5+ years experience as a Product Manager driving consumer-focused experiences across native apps & web.
2+ years experience as a Sr. PM/Principal PM responsible for setting the strategic direction, product goals, and roadmap for an independently operating team.
Nice to Have(s):
Experience managing projects that involve large datasets of complex, real-time information.
