ASRC Federal Communications is seeking an Network Support Technician for our ISS2 contract supporting our Air Force customer. This position is located on Eareckson Air Station (EAS). This is a rotational position in which the selected employee will work a schedule with 3 months on-site, and 1 month off unpaid. While working on-site, housing is provided in the form of a dormitory facility. All meals are furnished through the cafeteria. Transportation to EAS from Anchorage, AK, is provided by government sponsored aircraft.
Summary/General Description of Job:
The Network Support Technician performs technical, operational, and training support to users of personal computers either by telephone, or on-site for PC desktop hardware and software packages. The Network Support Technician provides support for the Network management architecture for the organization; integrates Network management information system requirements; provides all departments with Network management services maintenance, support, and technical information including management advice and assistance. The incumbent installs and tests personal computers, printers, and other peripherals, configures operating systems, loads shrink wrap programs and other application software program. In this position, the incumbent troubleshoots computer problems, performs hardware and software diagnostics, coordinates needed repairs, resolves computer system and network problems, including coordination between users and components of a local area network, and participates in the evaluation of system configuration and software
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
• Manages user accounts and system resources using Active Directory for local company network.
• Troubleshoot JBER NIPR/SIPR network issues and engage JBER network teams for further assistance.
• Troubleshoots a wide range of computer problems to include hardware, software, and security issues.
• Responds to customer requestsfor assistance that are submitted via telephone, email, or in person.
• Receives requests for resolution of hardware or software problems that may require in-depth research.
• Analyzes customer problems and research AIMS software for possible solutions and works with corporate IT to find solutions to the database issues.
• Installs, and configures network operating systems and hardware.
• Supports the local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN) network systems to include configurations, installations and network security.
• Maintains network hardware and software in conjunction with the AF network systems.
• Implements information management policies and procedures.
• Executes procedures and policies to accomplish more efficiently and effectively the department’s operational mission with emphasis on the integration of information management disciplines in the operational activities.
• Ensures project’s compliance with government guidelines as specified within the contract.
• Accomplishes data management to include data element standardization and information sharing.
• Performs other related duties as assigned
Accountable For:
• Demonstrating knowledge of various types of computer hardware, software, and operating systems to include: Honeywell Vindicator IDS/ACS Servers and WISE workstations, and CCTV System servers.
• Workable knowledge AIMS software
• Common office machinery, including copiers, fax machines, and computers.
• Performing duties in a timely, cost-effective manner.
• Working harmoniously with others.
• Applications software systems such as the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Network server management and software such as Windows server.
• Network Security, Network Management/Monitoring
• LANs, WANs, Wireless LANs
• Common Best Practices for securing LANs, WANs, Wireless LANs
• Operating and maintaining all installed networking resources (routers, switches, firewalls, Network Management Systems, etc.)
• Performing assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
Work Conditions:
Work is typically sedentary in nature and performed in an office setting. The incumbent should be able to sit for extended periods of time, stand, walk, talk, hear, and write. Occasional lifting, handling, or moving of objects without assistance weighing up to 35 pounds may be required.
Job Requirements (Education, Experience, Professional Associations):
Mandatory
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Three (3) years of computer/help desk experience.<
