About this job:
Oversees a team and takes the initiative on projects and tasks to support team efforts while performing similar duties. Works in partnership with other department leads to strengthen connections between Federal Programs and schools, nonprofits, businesses, philanthropic organizations, and other stakeholders, identifying opportunities and leveraging resources to effectively support highly mobile youth (HMY—students experiencing homelessness, in foster care, military-connected, or in migrant education). Fosters positive, meaningful relationships within school communities and with external partners. Develops and enhances collaborations to share Federal Programs services and resources, supporting students, families, schools, and internal or external stakeholders.

• Evaluate eligibility for Highly Mobile Youth (HMY) program services under McKinney-Vento, Foster Care, Migrant Education, and Military provisions. Identify student needs, provide resources, and offer support, including referrals to additional services.
• Manage a caseload of HMY services, providing leadership and support (e.g., coaching, professional development) for a team of Highly Mobile Youth specialists. Act as the primary escalation point for complex cases and concerns.
• Participate in key meetings, including Best Interest Determination (BID) meetings, family meetings, Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, and other school events. Maintain open communication with caseworkers, families, and school staff to support students’ academic and emotional progress.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal and external partners to secure resources and expand the outreach of HMY services. Maintain an up-to-date inventory of school and community partnerships.
• Participate in professional development and training opportunities. Conduct training sessions for school staff and community members to raise awareness about District HMY services.

What You’ll Need:
- High School Diploma or GED- Required
- Bachelor's or relevant work experience - Preferred
- Master's Degree - Preferred
- Valid Colorado’s Drivers License, appropriate insurance coverage and acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years - Required
- Three (3) or more years of Demonstrated experience in community building and coalition building in the service of a diverse constituency.
- Proficiency with Google Suite
- Ability to effectively lead a team
- Ability to take responsibility for one's own performance
- Self-starter/leader who can anticipate department needs in a proactive (versus, reactive) manner
- Excellent time management and organizational skills to meet deadlines
- Ability to work in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with district and school leaders, faculty, staff and students
- Excellent interpersonal skills with effective verbal, written, and presentation skills
- Ability to assess appropriate priorities and organize workload on multiple assignments, work under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances
- High degree of integrity in handling confidential information
- Ability to communicate effectively in a credible and confident manner at all levels in the organization, both orally and in writing
- Demonstrated ability to manage relationships and effectively communicate with a variety of stakeholders
- Ability to be flexible with work hours in order to meet the needs of the department, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends
