About the role

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Tax Technology & Transformation Director for a permanent, hybrid position with our team in the Philadelphia Navy Yard.  This position will report to the VP, Global Head of Tax and play an integral role in Axalta’s global tax function.  As the Tax Technology & Transformation Director, you will be responsible for representing tax in the global enterprise resource planning (ERP) implementation (i.e. SAP S4/HANA) and for overseeing the development and implementation of technology solutions that support the tax function.  Your role will involve working closely with the SAP S4/HANA transformation team (including third-party resources), internal direct and indirect (i.e. VAT, sales and use tax, etc.) stakeholders, and IT.

Your Role Accountabilities:

  • Represent tax (Direct Tax, Indirect Tax, Withholding Tax and Transfer Pricing) as part of Axalta’s multi-year SAP S4/HANA implementation working closely with Axalta’s SAP S4/HANA transformation team, technology team, global tax workstream leads, third-party SAP tax integration resources and third-party system implementer. Collaborate with other departments within Axalta’s organization, including finance, accounting, and IT, to ensure accurate and timely reporting of all tax-related information and manage relationships with tax software vendors, external consultants, and other stakeholders as necessary.
  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of tax engines (e.g. ONESOURCE) and ensure they are correctly interfacing with manufacturing-related processes in SAP S4/HANA (e.g. order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, intercompany transactions).
  • Support accurate tax determination for complex supply chain structures, including cross-border transactions and multi-entity manufacturing and distribution models.
  • Design, develop, execute and maintain tax technology solutions to optimize tax operations and improve efficiency, governance, and accuracy in tax reporting. 
  • Stay ahead of emerging global tax compliance requirements (e.g. e-invoicing, digital reporting mandates) and proactively adapt system functionality.
  • Provide both hands-on solutions and strategic leadership to support the business needs in a fast paced, growing organization.
  • Manage and maintain stakeholder relationships in a cross-functional environment to collaborate on operation issues, support, and projects.

Education Background:

  • Candidates should possess at least a bachelor’s degree in Tax, Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, or a related field.  Advanced degrees or certification in related fields would be highly advantageous.

Professional Experience:

  • Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 6+ years' experience in an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) transformation and tax technology roles, with a proven track record of designing and implementing strategies within large organizations.
  • The ideal candidate will have previous hands-on experience in tax operations

Technical Skills:

  • Candidates must have an intimate understanding of SAP S4/HANA, ONESOURCE (e.g. Provision, Income Tax, and Indirect Tax), and other core company and tax systems. 
  • Proven experience in SAP S/4HANA ERP implementation, particularly in tax configuration and indirect tax processes.
  • Strong tax technical knowledge of indirect taxes (e.g., VAT, GST, sales/use tax), ideally with exposure to global tax regimes
  • A strong working knowledge of direct tax, transfer pricing and indirect tax technical concepts is essential. 
  • Proficiency in data management, analytics, and familiarity with the latest enterprise and tax technology tool available in the marketplace is required.  Experience with third-party tax tools and applications integration is also key.
  • Proficiency in Alteryx Designer, with demonstrated experience building and optimizing complex workflows.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate in a dynamic, cross-functional matrix environment.
  • Effective communication skills, including an ability to both listen and articulate complex concepts to difference audiences, resulting in action-oriented outcomes.
  • Strong organization and time management skills, with exceptional management of third-party advisors.
