<h2>Job Description</h2><p></p><h1>Job summary</h1><p>You’ll be joining the Garden Design Systems team, an international, remote-first group of talented systems practitioners. You are a self-starting senior designer with a passion for design systems and a mastery of your craft. You are detail oriented, with a high bar for visual and interaction design and the ability to see patterns in seemingly disparate situations. You’ve honed your skills in accessibility and localization. In the face of ambiguity, you empathize and collaborate with end-users and colleagues to build robust systems that are clear and refined. You understand the benefit of stepping back from the artboard to focus on relationships and clearly communicate our design system to cross-functional partners. You appreciate the value of rigorous consistency but are flexible enough to accommodate critique and change.</p><p></p><h1>What you’ll be doing</h1><ul><li><p>Be a key player on a small-but-mighty team that makes an outsized impact</p></li><li><p>Augment our product design system, Garden, defining component usage, patterns, anti-patterns, and visual layouts</p></li><li><p>Own work from start to ship to iterate—you know there is no “finish”</p></li><li><p>Author and maintain documentation that enables product managers, designers, and engineers to get the most out of Garden</p></li><li><p>Pair with UX engineers to transform Garden components and patterns into working artifacts for implementation</p></li><li><p>Collaborate with global design, product, and engineering teams to establish UI pattern usage and industry best standard</p></li></ul><p></p><h1>What you bring to the role</h1><h2>Basic qualifications</h2><ul><li><p>4–6 years of professional experience designing consumer or SaaS applications</p></li><li><p>Deep knowledge of current and emerging UI patterns, and able to understand the ramifications of design decisions at a global scale</p></li><li><p>A thirst for pushing the boundaries of enterprise software design with modern web UI patterns and implementation technologies</p></li><li><p>Solid verbal and written communication skills; able to explain functionality and rationale</p></li><li><p>A strong visual portfolio that showcases your work, provides details of your project roles, and demonstrates a systems-oriented approach from inception through delivery</p></li><li><p>Able and willing to flex your working hours to effectively work with the global team</p></li></ul><p></p><h2>Preferred qualifications</h2><ul><li><p>1–2 years design systems experience (member of team or contributor)</p></li><li><p>Experience designing UI for accessibility and localization</p></li><li><p>Experience working in a remote-first environment</p></li><li><p>Nice-to-have: motion design experience</p></li></ul><p></p><h1>Tool stack</h1><ul><li><p>Figma - high competency required, especially the design system features</p></li><li><p>Markdown - for writing documentation</p></li><li><p>Github - for reviews and QA</p></li><li><p>HTML, CSS, React - no coding required, but you must be able to converse with developers about implementation details</p></li></ul><p></p><h1>Where we work</h1><h2>Fully Flexible </h2><p>In this role, you’ll work primarily remotely with the support of a dynamic and caring team.
