Senior Splunk Engineer

What does a Senior Splunk Engineer do at Fiserv?

As a Senior Splunk Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on products that improve availability, enable peak readiness, and positively impact every service across Fiserv.  You will use your well-rounded technical expertise, strategic thinking, and strong collaboration skills to ensure successful integration and utilization of Splunk within DevOps environments.

What you will do:

• Design and implement scalable and robust Splunk architectures tailored to Fiserv requirements
• Integrate Splunk with various DevOps tools and platforms such as CI/CD pipelines, monitoring tools, configuration management like GitHub
• Manage and maintain cloud infrastructure to ensure the environments meet the SLAs with application and service owners using different tools and frameworks such as Ansible, terraform, any scripting language
• Develop automation scripts and tools to streamline Splunk deployments, configurations, and maintenance tasks. Develop and maintain scripts and tools to automate routine tasks using python, shell scripting
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers, operations, security, and business stakeholders to ensure Splunk meets organizational needs
• Continuously monitor and optimize Splunk deployments to ensure efficient resource utilization and performance
• Troubleshoot and resolve system and application issues to maintain optimal performance in our cloud/on Prem based environments
• Ensure that Splunk implementations adhere to best practices in terms of security, performance, and reliability. Identify areas for improvement through automation and scripting to enhance system reliability

What you will need to have:

• 10 to 12 years of experience with infrastructure and systems engineering in Agile environment
• 5+ years of experience providing Splunk backend administration and maintenance using Ansible Working experience on large clustered and distributed Splunk installations
• 5+ years of experience with building and maintaining Splunk apps using Python, Shell scripting or equivalent
• 5+ years working with Linux & Windows environment
• 3+ years of experience with datacenters including application servers & network
• 3+ years of DevOps & CI/CD development experience, Git, Python and Ansible
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, work, or military experience

What would be great to have:

• ITSI experience on large scale environments
• Machine Learning, Rest API, Splunk SDK and building apps
• Windows and Linux administration experience including command line interface, Docker, Kubernetes
• Application servers and datacenter infrastructure knowledge
