Job purpose
The Network and Systems Administrator position is an integral member of the IT Team. This position actively contributes to the development and implementation of IT solutions aimed at optimizing business operations. The Network and Systems Administrator has independent responsibility for a wide array of daily IT tasks and projects, while collaborating with a team of IT professionals. This position reports to the IT Manager. This position serves internal customers/employees, and a customer service mindset and team approach are essential for success.
Duties and responsibilities:
1. Maintaining Computer Networks and Systems
a. Hardware Management:
- Maintaining and configuring network hardware, including wireless systems, switches, firewalls, virtual/SAN infrastructure, and servers, ensuring that these devices are functioning optimally.
- Support and maintenance of VoIP and security camera systems.
- Create and update comprehensive documentation, including system configurations, policies, and procedures (SOPs) to ensure efficiency and consistency.
b. Software Maintenance:
- Installing, configuring, and maintaining operating systems on servers.
- Manage Office 365, including SharePoint, to ensure efficient collaboration and document management within the organization.
- Administer Active Directory, DNS, and Group Policy Objects (GPO) to maintain a secure and efficient network infrastructure.
- Monitoring system logs for errors and addressing them promptly.
- Create and update comprehensive documentation, including system configurations, policies, and procedures (SOPs) to ensure efficiency and consistency.
c. Database Management:
- Administering and maintaining SQL databases.
- Backing up and restoring databases to prevent data loss.
- Ensuring data integrity and security.
d. ERP System, Reporting, and EDI Management (Epicor Prophet 21):
- Assist in maintaining, updating, and ensuring optimal performance of the organization’s ERP system.
- Assist in the support of reporting (SQL Server Reporting Services) and data analytics tools (Phocas EDA).
- Manage Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) systems that allow for the secure exchange of data between systems.
