About the role

Position Function:

The Lead Staff Psychologist is located in the MSU-Meridian Mental and Behavioral Health Clinic and reports to the Associate Dean of the College of Education and Head of the Division of Education. The Lead Staff Psychologist is primarily responsible for providing high-quality clinical services-including assessment, diagnosis, and individual and group therapy to children, adolescents, and adults in the community. In addition to direct service, the Lead Staff Psychologist provides supervision for graduate students, interns, and other psychologists as part of the Clinic's role as a training site. The position also contributes to program development, quality assurance, and the integration of telehealth services to expand access to care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provide empirically supported assessment and intervention services, including intake
evaluations, psychological testing, diagnosis, and treatment planning for children,
adolescents, and adults in the community.
2.Deliver individual, family, and group therapy based on clinical need, with referral to
community resources when long-term treatment is indicated.
3. Provide crisis intervention, safety assessments, and referrals as needed to ensure client
well-being.
4. Incorporate telehealth as an extension of clinical service delivery to expand access for
clients.
5. Provide clinical supervision and oversight for graduate students, interns, and other
psychologists within the Clinic's training model.
6. Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in accordance with legal, ethical, and
professional standards.
7. Participate in Clinic staff meetings, continuing education activities, supervision, and
other professional development opportunities.
8. Engage in outreach and psychoeducational programming for community partners (e.g.,
presentations, workshops, trainings) to promote mental health awareness and support
prevention efforts.
9. Serve on Division, College, or University committees as appropriate.
10. Support program development and quality assurance initiatives within the Clinic,
including refinement of policies, procedures, and clinical services.
11. Maintain professional licensure requirements, including compliance wth continuing
education standards.
12. Perform other duties as assigned that align with the mission of the Clinic and the
University.

Minimum Qualifications:

Doctorate degree in Psychology from an APA-accredited program, conferred no later than the date of hire.
Licensed or license-eligible as a Psychologist with the Mississippi Board of Psychology. If license-eligible, full licensure must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
Demonstrated experience providing psychological assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for children, adolescents, and/or adults.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively and professionally with clients, students, faculty, staff, and community partners.
Commitment to ethical practice and adherence to professional standards of care.

Preferred Qualifications:

Licensed Psychologist in the State of Mississippi at the time of hire.
Experience providing clinical supervision.
Experience delivering psychological services via telehealth platforms.
Training or experience in crisis intervention, safety/risk assessment, and short-term stabilization services.
Demonstrated ability to engage in outreach, workshops, or psychoeducational programming for community groups.
Familiarity with electronic health record systems and clinical documentation standards.
Interest in contributing to program development, quality improvement, and accreditation readiness within a clinic or training setting.
