As the ISSO, you will provide support to NAVAIR’s Naval Aviation Training Systems and Ranges Program Office, PMA-205.   

ASEC is seeking an Audit-Focused ISSO to support NAVAIR’s Naval Aviation Training Systems and Ranges Program Office (PMA-205). This role emphasizes internal security auditing (80%+) with additional ISSO duties as needed. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience conducting system and network audits, particularly using SolarWinds tools, to identify vulnerabilities, enforce compliance, and enhance overall cybersecurity posture.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Proposing, coordinating, implementing, and enforcing information system security policies, standards and methodologies.
  • Performing vulnerability assessments using the Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS), Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG), and the Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) Compliance Checker, incorporating automated Benchmarks.
  • Implementing operating systems and network devices security configuration in accordance with Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) approved Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
  • Performing security control continuous monitoring, reviewing system security plans and associated artifacts, security audits, risk analysis and developing mitigation strategies for DoD information systems.
  • Identifying Common Criteria and National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP) certified technologies and the DISA Approved Products List (APL).
  • Preparing certification letters and Memoranda of Agreement (MoA) with system owners for interface and networking implementations.
  • Providing guidance of cross-functional cybersecurity efforts ensuring alignment with organizational and program goals and milestones. 
  • Collaborating on documentation for Information System Authority to Operate (ATO) decisions, including SSPs, SOPs, POA&Ms, and Knowledge Articles. 
  • Conducting comprehensive risk assessments and vulnerability analyses to identify and mitigate potential threats to satellite communication infrastructures.
  • Position may require flexibility in working hours.

Requirements

Education and Experience:   

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related STEM discipline is  preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of ISSO or cybersecurity experience, with at least 3 years focused on system/network security auditing.
  • Experience with SolarWinds Security Event Manager (SEM), ARM, and related monitoring/auditing tools is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with ACAS, DISA STIGs, SCAP Compliance Checker, and DoD information security standards.
  • Familiarity with NIAP/Common Criteria, DoD APL, and DoD/IC cybersecurity directives.

Certification Requirements:

  • Candidates must hold a current IAM Level II certification (e.g., ClSSP, CISM, CASP+ or SecurityX, CAP) as defined by DoD 8570.01-M. Security Clearance Requirement:

  • This position requires U.S. citizenship and an active DoD Top Secret clearance. Selected candidate will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
