Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Director, Fraternity and Sorority Life. - Boca Raton, FL.

Summary of responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategic Planning:

  • Provide visionary leadership for Fraternity and Sorority Life, setting long-term goals and priorities for the department.

  • Develop and implement policies, programs, and services that enhance the student experience within the Greek community.

  • Serve as a primary liaison between FAU administration and fraternity and sorority governing councils, local advisors, and national headquarters.

  • Ensure compliance with university policies and procedures as well as national standards for fraternity and sorority life.

  • Collaborate with senior leadership within Student Affairs to align Greek Life initiatives with institutional priorities.

Supervision & Staff Development:

  • Supervise the Associate Director, and mentor the Assistant Director, Coordinators, and Graduate Assistants within FSL.

  • Provide staff evaluations, feedback, and professional development plans for direct reports.

  • Provide leadership development, training, and professional growth opportunities for staff members.

  • Conduct performance evaluations, goal-setting, and staff meetings to ensure alignment with departmental objectives.

  • Assess and report on the effectiveness of OFSL programs and initiatives.

Program Development & Risk Management:

  • Oversee the development and execution of risk management initiatives, including hazing prevention, event management, and health and safety programs.

  • Implement and assess educational programs that promote leadership, accountability, and student development within the Greek community.

  • Ensure compliance with national organization policies and university regulations regarding risk management, student conduct, and event planning.

  • Develop, implement, and assess programming such as Health and Safety Summits, bystander intervention training, and chapter leadership development.

Student & Community Engagement:

  • Serve as a key advisor and resource to fraternity and sorority chapters, council executive boards, and student leaders.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with chapter advisors, alumni, and inter/national headquarters representatives.

  • Support students in creating a positive and inclusive fraternity and sorority experience through leadership development and community engagement initiatives.

  • Attend council and chapter meetings, campus events, and leadership retreats to strengthen relationships with students.

  • Support student conduct and accountability processes related to organizational misconduct.

Assessment & Reporting:

  • Develop and oversee assessment efforts to measure the impact and effectiveness of Greek life programs and initiatives.

  • Collect and analyze data related to membership trends, retention, and program outcomes to inform strategic decision-making.

  • Prepare annual reports and presentations for university leadership regarding the status and progress of fraternity and sorority life.

Budget & Resource Management:

  • Oversee the FSL budget, ensuring responsible financial planning and resource allocation.

  • Manage funding and financial support for council programming, leadership initiatives, and chapter development opportunities.

  • Identify and pursue external funding opportunities, including grants and alumni donations, to enhance the Greek experience at FAU.

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
