NBBB has been building boats on beautiful Whidbey Island since 1964. We are located in Freeland, WA where we produce state-of-the-art vessels; tugs, ferries, fire boats, fishing vessels, barges, dinner boats, along with many other sophisticated ships. We are a team that specializes in versatility to build and service an astonishing variety of vessels. We lead in adopting innovative marine technology to serve our customers' needs. We are seeking a Facilities Maintenance Laborer who will service the shipyard facilities and maintenance related needs as well as perform cleaning and provide labor support as needed on various facility or vessel related construction projects.
What You will Do
- Clean service and supply restrooms throughout yard and facility and offices, including permanent bathrooms as well as porta-johns.
- Accommodate user needs and maximize office space using various hand, power and specialty tools, dollies, and hand trucks.
- Develop positive working relationship between Facilities and Maintenance organization and partner and client departments
- Dust all furniture and fixtures as required.
- Wash and disinfect all washroom floors, toilets, toilet seats, and fixtures
- Keep first aid and safety offices clean and orderly.
- Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks.
- Maintain adequate supplies of cleaning agents, toilet tissue and paper towels, and soap.
- Mop tile and concrete floor areas in breakroom and office areas
- Spot clean walls and toilet partitions
- Clean floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them.
- Gather and empty trash.
- Empty all waste baskets and garbage cans, place garbage in outside storage bin
- Clean, wash and disinfect drinking fountains.
- Embrace continuous improvement in approach to job and in providing safe and healthy work environment.
- Perform and/or report minor maintenance repairs; report damages and acts of vandalism.
- Clean kitchen sinks and counters
- Clean liter and debris from all yard, dock and pier areas inside and outside of buildings
- Perform and document routine inspection and maintenance activities.
- Perform heavy cleansing special projects as needed.
- Notify management of occurring deficiencies or needs for repairs.
- Work as a member of a team demonstrating skills to effectively communicate, adapt, interpret and problem solve.
- Always embrace safety culture and practice safe shipyard work practices and housekeeping
- Develop and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with fellow crew members and supervision.
- Other tasks as needed that may arise in our exciting work environment.
Qualifications
What You Bring to Our Team
- Two years’ experience in facilities and maintenance role
- Integrity and ability to work independently.
- Endurance - Ability to bend, walk, push and lift all day.
- Ability to lift and carry weights up to75 pounds.
- Must be able to physically transit all areas of the facility and yard.
- Mechanical skills preferred.
- High School Education or equivalent or vocational education
- Willingness to work extra hours or non-routine shifts as demanded by construction.
