A Day in the Life

Team is working hybrid and will be onsite 3 days/week in Mounds View, MN.

As a Senior Finance Manager, you will provide crucial support to Medtronic’s Chief Technology and R&D Officer and have direct oversight of two finance staff members.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Influence and Communication: Demonstrate the ability to communicate and influence at all levels within the organization, building trust across multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Engage passionately with multiple businesses and geographies, using a hands-on approach to address process and system challenges.
  • Results-driven Leadership: Exhibit self-confidence and tenacity, driving results even under pressure.
  • Strategic Partnership: Serve as the finance business partner to the Chief Technical and R&D Officer, who is part of the Executive Committee.
  • Financial Analysis: Perform and analyze financial modeling, trends, and key subjects such as rates of return, depreciation, working capital, cash flow, investments, and costs versus budget. Conduct variance analysis, forecasting, financial planning, strategic planning, and expense comparisons.
  • Financial Reporting: Provide commentary on monthly financial statements and maintain and develop an R&D-specific KPI dashboard.
  • Forecasting and Data Management: Submit and structure data related to short- and long-term financial forecasts within corporate applications.
  • System Development: Develop, maintain, and establish operational specifications for financial information systems, considering factors such as information flow, volume, ad hoc reporting, and analysis.
  • Business Performance: Provide analysis on business development and monitor business performance by unit, division, or group.
  • Reporting and Insights: Prepare reports of findings and recommendations, compile and consolidate financial plans, and provide insights to management.
  • Team Leadership: Manage two direct reports, including planning, prioritizing, and directing their responsibilities, as well as coaching and developing the team.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

•    Bachelor’s Degree with 7+ years of work experience in Finance and/or Accounting (Or Advanced Degree with 5+ years) plus 5+ years of progressive leadership experience

Nice to Have


•    Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
•    Experience with SAP, Hyperion Spend, and CMR
•    Understanding of Project Accounting
•    People management experience
