Essential Functions
- Responsible for overseeing the training programs, record-keeping, and recertification processes for Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) personnel, ensuring that all staff meet the necessary standards and qualifications.
- Manage the maintenance and logistics of ALS and BLS supply caches in overseas locations, ensuring that all equipment and supplies are adequately stocked and ready for deployment.
- Conduct Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement (QA/QI) assessments of emergency health records to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of documentation and patient care.
- Provide assistance with billing for BLS transport services, ensuring that billing practices align with Electronic Health Record (EHR) information and comply with relevant regulations.
- Lead the recruitment and onboarding process for paramedics, facilitating a smooth transition for new hires into the department.
- Play a crucial role in the ALS Academy, providing training and support to paramedics new to the county or department, helping them to acclimate and excel in their roles.
- Oversee the accountability of Schedule I drugs, ensuring strict adherence to regulatory requirements and maintaining accurate records of all controlled substances.
- Must be a national registered paramedic and will need to obtain WA state certification upon hiring.
- Must obtain state EMS evaluator certification and affiliate with Thurston County Medic One.
- Must have Fire Instructor one or obtain it in year one.

Examples of Duties:
1. Perform a variety of management duties in assigned functional areas of the fire department.
2. Respond to major incidents and may assume command at fires, hazardous materials incidents, emergency medical responses and natural or man-made disasters.
3. Determine appropriate action and response to incidents and direct operations accordingly; assure efficient and effective deployment of personnel, equipment and resources; direct evacuations and emergency medical care; request additional services and resources as needed.
4. Manage, develop, prepare, implement and present departmental training and safety programs.
5. Manage the Fire Prevention Division and activities, including investigations, permit issuance, citations, inspections and plan review.
6. Supervise assigned personnel including scheduling, work assignment, performance evaluation.
7. Assure compliance with departmental rules, regulations, operating guidelines, policies and procedures.
8. Identify functional goals and objectives, and participate in long- and short-range departmental planning.
9. Prepare and administer division or special project budgets as assigned; authorize expenditures for equipment and supplies; monitor and maintain program accounts.
