A Brief Overview
Directs and participates in IS activities associated with the development and implementation of clinical informatics tools and processes. Supports technology implementation and adoption and provides oversight for the most appropriate use of existing and future clinical informatics systems in order to ensure high-quality and safe care to patients. Works to maximize value from these advanced health information technologies (HIT). Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.
What you will do
- Serves as the primary liaison between IT and all clinical communities.
- Builds relationships with physicians and other clinicians to gain the support of information technology initiatives. Is highly responsive to users’ needs, including training, to assure widespread acceptance and provider use of the clinical systems.
- Provide the clinician perspective to the design and build of the electronic medical record to best assure optimal clinician workflow and promote practicing to a standard with evidence-based practice and improved clinical outcomes
- Contributes to the development and use of the clinical informatics system leading to low cost and high-quality outcomes.
- Advocates and understands clinician needs and builds relationships with clinicians to gain the support of clinical adoption. Is highly responsive to users’ needs, including training, to assure wide spread acceptance and provider use of the clinical systems and presents design decisions and updates to various hospital and regional groups.
- Support on-going clinical and business quality improvement through various methods using broad-ranging analysis of data and informatics.
- Leads/supports the design of system-wide evidence-based standardized clinical content and processes around which clinical systems can be implemented. In this effort, works with a physician, nursing, ancillary, and administrative leadership.
- Supports the development and monitoring of real-time and predictive clinical decision support enabling tools patient care, as well as the design of the clinical system, features supporting the use of the system to leverage the clinicians time and maximize communication with affiliates and referring physicians.
- Reviews informatics trends, experiences, and approaches, develops technical and application implementation strategies and assists in the development of strategic plans for clinical information systems.
- Works with senior clinical leadership in deploying standardized evidence-based best practices in medicine and clinical content and ensures adoption of best practices.
- Supports various regulatory compliance activities including HIPAA, Meaningful Use, and Billing Compliance.

- 7-9 years Clinical informatics systems implementation
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- A strong reputation for sustained, inclusive, trust-based relationships with hospital and physician leadership.
- Possess a passion for EMR design and adoption as well as quality and patient safety improvement.
- Visionary leadership that is also operational and can effectively communicate between executive leadership and all levels of IT.
- Expert knowledge on enterprise wide clinical processes and workflows.
- Well organized with proven ability to manage projects and meet deadlines.
- Excellent speaking, listening and interpersonal skills.
- Approachable and respectful of others.
- Ability to positively motivate associates and medical staff to desired actions in meeting
