VCA Palm Beach Veterinary Specialists was established in West Palm Beach in 1998 and has flourished from a single-specialty practice into a full-service, multi-disciplinary, specialty-only practice.
We reside within a 32,000 sq. ft. facility, operating 24/7/365, which includes an in-house national reference laboratory, blood bank, and Education Center with a 125-seat auditorium, conference room and meeting hall used to provide continuing education programs. Our Advanced Imaging department offers on-site MRI, CT, C-Arm and Linear Accelerator (Halcyon).

About the Role
Our hospital provides advanced diagnostic imaging 7 days a week. In addition to fulfilling the duties and responsibilities described in the Advanced Diagnostic Imaging/Veterinary Technician Job Description, the Advanced Imaging Department Supervisor is tasked with assisting in departmental scheduling to optimize operations and uphold efficient workflow within the advanced imaging department. The Supervisor also oversees patient treatment protocols and provides guidance to Doctors, Technicians and Assistants to ensure high standards of patient care. Furthermore, the Advanced Imaging Supervisor is responsible for supporting equipment safety and maintenance initiatives, which include coordinating annual inspections, arranging preventive maintenance, and addressing technical issues as they arise.l.
Compensation: based on experience, licensure and skill set.
Schedule: Ability to have a flexible schedule, and on-call rotation.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Independently perform diagnostic imaging studies under the direction of a veterinarian.
- Create new and manipulate existing imaging protocols.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of PACS, computer systems, and hospital software.
- Review patient medical information and prepare the patient for procedures following proper screening and care protocols.
- Coordinate patient flow through the imaging department, assisting in duties necessary to expedite service.
- Ability to run MRIs and CT scans
- Train and monitor technical associates on all aspects of imaging equipment.
- Maintain hospital associate dosimeters and ensure timely returns and monitoring.
- Troubleshoot equipment, contacting support specialists when needed, maintaining records of equipment failure, and notifying management.
- Consistently follow MRI and radiation safety procedures in accordance with safety standards, immediately reporting any hazards or accidents.
- Assist hospital management with preparing required associate training and yearly hospital safety inspections.
- Understand hospital estimates and have the ability to present them in a clear manner to clients.
- Recognize and report any potentially urgent medical issues to doctors immediately.
- Must be able to assist with all advanced diagnostic imaging procedures(CT/MRI/Digital Radiographs/Fluoroscopy) and monitor anesthesia during procedures.
- Proactively set up for procedures
- Post-procedure take-down, room sanitizing, and equipment sterilization and storage.
- Assist with maintaining a clean environment; ensure the department is clean and stocked daily.
- Produce SSR forms and keep the department appropriately stocked, including special order items and chemo supplies.

- Play an integral role in managing cases and workload for the advanced Imaging department.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Previous experience or training/education working in a veterinary facility.
- Must be friendly, outgoing, “people oriented.”
- Excellent communications skills.
- Must be capable of being cross-trained for front office receptionist duties that will be expected in the job.
