The Role
Porter Novelli seeks an Assistant Account Executive (AE) to join our Health Practice and support communications programs for leading pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. As an AAE, you will play a key support role on high-impact, purpose-driven campaigns while learning the fundamentals of health communications, building essential skills and contributing to work that makes a difference for patients and patient communities.
You’ll work closely with senior team members to keep projects organized, contribute to content development, and coordinate day-to-day activities across multiple accounts. This is a great opportunity for someone eager to start their career in communications and gain hands-on experience in the fast-paced world of health PR. An interest in healthcare and science is a plus.
What You Will Be Doing
- Support the team in delivering client work: Assist in the execution of communications programs that align with client goals and industry trends.
- Learn to translate complex topics: Help prepare clear, accurate communication materials for healthcare professionals, patients, and media, with guidance from senior colleagues.
- Contribute to content creation: Draft and edit basic materials such as meeting notes, social media copy, media monitoring reports and research summaries, with close attention to accuracy, consistency, and brand alignment.
- Support media outreach and monitoring: Help research media targets, develop media lists, draft outreach materials, and monitor relevant coverage and opportunities.
- Collaborate with integrated teams: Partner with colleagues across digital, paid, media, and analytics functions to support the development of integrated campaign elements.
- Track trends and news developments: Conduct media monitoring and background research to inform strategy, messaging, and client counsel.
- Keep projects moving smoothly: Help manage timelines, organize files, and ensure tasks stay on track, contributing to the smooth execution of team initiatives.
- Pitch in where needed: Be ready to support teammates with coordination, documentation, and execution across various projects and deliverables.
The Experience That Will Contribute To Your Success
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, English or a related field.
- Internship or coursework in communications, PR, marketing, journalism or healthcare-related fields preferred, but not required.
- Strong interest in health communications, particularly pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries.
- Strong writing and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling disease state awareness materials, social media copy, media materials and other client assets.
- Solid writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and a willingness to learn digital communications best practices.
- Help drive projects forward and support day-to-day team operations, including meeting preparation, client follow-ups and other project management coordination activities.
- Ability to manage projects and deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
- A team-oriented, proactive mindset, with a willingness to contribute beyond defined responsibilities.
The anticipated salary range for this position is $50,000 - $52,000 for an Assistant Account Executive role. Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications, and geography.
