Ergon owns and operates two petroleum refineries located in Mississippi and West Virginia, producing gasoline, low-sulfur diesel, lubricant and process base oils, asphalt and other specialty products. Ergon also produces, markets, and/or distributes paving asphalt, asphalt emulsions, specialty coatings, sealants, and other road construction and maintenance products from over thirty owned or leased asphalt and emulsions plants across the United States.

The Senior Instructional Designer supports Project Polaris specific stakeholder adoption of new technology and business processes. The individual assigned to this position will develop Ergon specific project training material, develop standard templates for developer use and ensure developed training material meets project quality and branding standards. This position is on-site in Flowood MS.

Sr. Instructional Designer Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in related field preferred (E.g., Instructional Technology).3 years' experience tracking vendor deliverables and ensuring training products meet quality specifications.
  • 10 years' experience in instructional design of e-learning, instructor led, and blended training delivery formats. Experience with Articulate 360 is highly desirable.
  • 5 years' experience uploading, assigning and managing training through a Learning Management System (LMS). 3 years' experience as a SuccessFactors LMS administrator is desirable.
  • 2 years' experience supporting Organizational Change Management and the ADKAR model.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate complex technical concepts in English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel to create, edit, and share information.
  • Ability to collaborate with others at all levels of the organization as well as vendors.
  • Customer service skills, responsive attitude
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.
  • Experience developing learning content to support various learning styles(ADA Compliant Training, Kinesthetic, Visual, Auditory).

Sr. Instructional Designer Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops training project plan across a multi-phased project to track and report vendor and employee progress in developing and delivering project specific training material.
  • Uses recognized training delivery methodology (e.g., ADDIE) to produce and deliver training material to meet project objectives.
  • Constructs training templates and standards for multiple delivery methods to support project training needs.
  • Stays informed of current learning and development tools / applications and makes recommendations on best tools to support business / project needs.
  • Determines project specific training business needs to the task and learning objective level.
  • Conducts research and collaborates with subject experts to understand specific needs and requirements of various organizations to include identification of preferred and best learning styles.
  • Designs training materials to support the project needs to include recommendations for packaging, delivery and tracking of training through the SuccessFactors LMS.
  • Develops e-learning, instructor-led and blended training material using Ergon provided applications.
  • Designs appropriate Kirkpatrick Level 1 through 3 learning assessments as needed.
  • Manages project team (vendor and employee) permissions within the LMS and learning development applications to ensure curriculum developers and trainers have access to upload, test, review and present material.
  • Uploads e-learning content via SCORM file to LMS for delivery to learners.
  • Creates appropriate items, curriculum and programs within LMS to meet program training requirements.
  • Tests and troubleshoots e-learning modules to identify and resolve potential issues prior to launch.
  • Assists Training Specialist with management of learners and activities within the LMS.
  • Reviews 3rd party vendor developed training material to ensure compliance with Ergon standards and ensures content meets specified objectives.
  • Reviews training feedback to ensure learners have requisite knowledge and skills to perform project related tasks.
  • Make recommendations for training sourcing solutions (internal vs. external) based on cost, quality, timelines
