Job Duties
The Offender Records Administrator acts to ensure the accurate and proper operation of the Central Criminal Records Section, including the supervision of all facets of the record keeping process. Provides both direct and indirect supervision to a multi-tasked staff with diverse responsibilities and work requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma. Considerable knowledge of Code of Virginia, Virginia Department of Corrections Division Operating Procedures, Court & Legal practices and procedures, Attorney General opinions, Department of Corrections’ computer systems and State Police and other governmental agency policies and procedures. Knowledge of and ability to determine what information can be released to a requestor, to include an understanding of FOIA requirements. Knowledge of record retention schedules. Ability to supervise people effectively. Ability to organize, plan, conduct training, integrate functions and carry out detailed and often complex assignments and operations.
Additional Considerations
Advanced knowledge in criminal justice, criminal justice, corrections, business management, public administration, legal concepts or related field. Experience in initiating and maintaining files and organizational records. Criminal Justice & supervisory experience.
