We are seeking an exceptional Field Service Engineer candidate to join our Service & Support team in the Boston/New England territory. This candidate should have excellent communication and customer service skills as well as experience working with complex electromechanical and/or fluidics equipment.  This candidate will be responsible for providing timely and accurate installation, routine maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of a rapidly evolving life science technology platform remotely at our customer sites.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and repair on complex instruments comprised of electromechanics, microscopy, optics, fluidics, software, and computer components
  • Coordinate and perform platform installations, including customer facility inspections, instrument installation, quality verification tests, and platform validation
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting guidance to support customer platform instrumentation, software, and workflows
  • Build and maintain relationships to meet and exceed our customers’ needs and expectations. 
  • Perform timely and accurate administrative duties such as completing service reports, PM checklists, post service checklists, etc.
  • Work closely with Peers, Field Applications, Product Applications, Operations and Logistics, Product Support, Research & Development, and Management to continuously improve our customer solutions
  • Manage your own schedule, travel arrangements, spare parts and inventory, customer entitlement and service obligations, and capture of customer feedback

Requirements

  • Minimum associate degree in Engineering Technology, Science, or a related field preferred but not required with 5 plus years field service experience or technical military training and experience
  • 3 years’ experience with scientific research instruments, metrology, analytical measurement, medical devices or similar complex hardware and software systems required.
  • Ability to communicate in English is required
  • Strong electrical, mechanical, and software troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with hand and power tools, common test equipment, including multi-meters, oscilloscopes, and soldering tools
  • Willing to travel domestically and internationally for installation, service, and training (up to 50% overnight)
  • Valid, clean driver’s license required
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Other duties as assigned
