Job Description
As a valued colleague on our SF Capital Markets, Conduit – MBS Liquidity Desk, you will contribute to monitoring financial markets and initiating trades or transactions to capitalize on recognized patterns or according to a strategy. You will utilize existing strategies for analyzing financial market data, determine trends or patterns, make trades or transactions based on the analysis of financial market data, effectively transfer a portion of credit risk to private capital, and collaborate with your team and management to establish pricing according to the associated risk of the asset. Lastly, you will gain the opportunity to engage and present to Capital Market leadership.

The Capital Markets - Agency MBS Trader - Senior Associate role will offer you the flexibility to make each day your own, while working alongside people who care so that you can deliver on the following responsibilities:
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with financial dealers or other market makers to provide pricing information on mortgage-backed securities (MBS) available for sale.
- Develop and build collaborative and trusted relationships with internal and external customers through active engagement for focused and educational and trading discussions and inspiring work.
- Track financial market activities, understand, and evaluate new developments in the market, and report on potential impact on business/position, as well as use internal valuation and risk models to assist with analysis and demonstrate proficiency with financial market data sources.
- Develop and execute trading strategies. Conduct analysis and execute trades consistent with overall strategy of the desk, ensuring all policies, procedures and limits are properly observed.
- Track market activities and identify and report on potential impact on business/position.
- Actively participate in team discussions offering insights and opinions, represent the desk in internal discussions with key stakeholders.
- Use internal valuation and risk models to assist with analysis.
- Contribute to the process of model and technology improvement across various analytic and database tools. Participate in testing system enhancements.
- Update desk procedures and look for opportunities to improve processes.
Qualifications
THE EXPERIENCE YOU BRING TO THE TEAM
Minimum Required Experiences
- 2 years' related experience
- Understanding of the Agency Mortgage-Backed Security (MBS) market is mandatory.
- Ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent communications and time management skills.
- Working knowledge of/experience working in Financial Services company.
- Ability to analyze and work with data to identity trends and relationships to make informed business and trading decisions.
Desired Experiences
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Understanding of the mortgage lifecycle, MBS, hedging and trading concepts
- Relevant professional designations such as MBA or CFA, FRM designation are advantageous.
- Basic proficiency with Python, SAS, R, SQL or Tableau, is desirable.
- Proficiency with market data sources such as Bloomberg, BlackRock Aladdin, Report App, Compass Point, Yield Book, Tradeweb etc.
