Raytheon Field Engineering is anticipating an opportunity for a Principal Field Service Specialist in the DC Metro or Pacific Region to support Command and Control Switching Systems (CCSS).

This role will be hybrid, working from home as well as on the customer site.

What You Will Do

  • Provide on-site Engineering and Technical Assistance Services on a routine basis.
  • Identify customers’ needs, clarify information, explain procedures, answer questions, research every issue and provide solutions and/or alternatives.
  • Work with other engineering disciplines and subject matter experts to resolve issues.
  • Install System upgrades by following installation and user instruction guides and “scripts”
  • Documents field issues and maintains records for later analysis. Coordinates with other departments who will be affected by testing.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM preferred) and a minimum of 4 years of prior engineering experience. Experience in lieu of education option.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued TS/SCI security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Extensive experience with digital switching systems.
  • Experience performing complex troubleshooting and analysis to correct system discrepancies.
  • Experience reading, interpreting and executing statements of work, drawing packages, wiring diagrams, floor plans, technical documentation, directives and standards.
  • Experience in performing Software and Firmware upgrades on Windows, Linux, and VxWorks.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • 5 + years’ experience with Raytheon proprietary DSS-2A digital switching system product line and Defense Red Switch Network (DRSN) Red Switches.
  • Familiar with Juniper IP communications equipment, government voice, and dedicated & bulk encryption devices.
  • Strong teamwork skills – Ability to interact with senior external personnel and Raytheon Engineers on significant technical matters, often requiring coordination between organizations.
  • Possess communication skills necessary for problem resolution with military/corporate customers and vendors.
  • Work independently to develop timely and effective solutions to technical problems of various scope and complexity.

This position requires a security clearance. DCSA Consolidated Adjudication Services (DCSACAS), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
