Your main responsibilities
All Schindler KGs are responsible that their business activities are in line with the specific tax laws and regulations and that cross-border transactions comply with the framework of the internationally accepted arm's-length-principle.
The tax director’s role encompasses all aspects of taxation and tax policy for SEC. The tax director will report directly to the SEC KG CFO and with dotted line reporting to the Group Tax Director. The tax director will work closely with the KGs Senior Management. He/she has strong domestic and international tax experience and is competent in all areas of taxation and tax compliance.
1. Tax Compliance
• Preparation and filing of all income, property and VAT/sales tax returns and any other tax forms to meet local filing requirements.
• Preparation of the (consolidated) tax provision.
• Responsible for the tax provision process and tax compliance process, including working and coordination with accounting department and other company personnel.
• Development and implementation of tax practices for the KG.
• Stay up-to-date with Schindler’s international (tax) policies.
• Ensure that organization complies with international tax rules and concepts to achieve organization goals.
• Development end evaluation of existing tax procedures and recommend improvements to optimize tax filing processes
2. Tax reporting
• Coordination with CFO and accounting department of Group quarterly tax reporting incl. tax asset and liability position and year-end tax reporting package as well as half year supplemental tax reporting package.
• Support calculation of current and deferred income taxes (IAS 12)
3. Tax Planning & Tax Risk Management
• Development of effective tax planning strategies to ensure tax savings
• Recommend and initiate tax planning ideas
• Advising of tax implications of material proposed transactions and business changes
• Review tax advice for correctness and accuracy.
• Year-end tax planning in the Schindler companies
• Provide financial guidance for new business developments, mergers, joint ventures, and acquisitions.
• Identifying material tax risks, whether in relation to compliance maters, financial reporting, tax planning, tax audit or legislative developments
4. Transfer Pricing
• Establish and maintain local transfer pricing documentation if legally required
• Ensure compliance with Group transfer-pricing policies and Group charges policies
• Ensure in time up-dates of transfer-pricing documentations and studies
• Coordinate internal charging and transfer pricing structure (oversight of intercompany transactional activity and assurance of group transfer prices comply with applicable guidelines (e.g. OECD)
5. Tax Audits & Disputes
• Maintain proactive cooperation with tax authorities in audits or disputes
• Responsible for performing a variety of managing, strategizing, coordinating and negotiating functions relative to the outside tax audits such as perform pre-audit analysis, schedule audits and submit required documentation.
• Coordinate the flow of tax information to external auditors and tax authorities.
What you bring
• BA or BS (major in accounting preferred) and masters of taxation degrees required. Must have strong familiarity with GAAP; certified public accountant preferred.
• At least 5+ years of tax experience in roles of progressively increasing responsibility.
• Knowledge and/or experience in accounting
• Excellent communication skills and strong skills in the analysis of the balance sheet and income statements.
• Strong demonstrated ability to prioritize, organization and multi-tasking skills, a commitment to tight deadlines, as well as project management and problem resolution skills.
• Should enjoy problem solving, as well as analysis and appropriate resolution of technical tax issues.
