Database Specialist - Associate - Infrastructure Critical Services – IT

Job Summary:

The Critical Service Delivery project teams are responsible for the design and build of IT infrastructure for HKEX application systems. We strive for the highest IT standard by looking out for new technologies as well as continuous internal process automation and improvement.

Job Duties:

As Database Specialist, you will provide support to the administration and support for the company-wise database infrastructure. We play a critical role to maintain these company-wise systems that are critical to daily business operation. We also partner with application and infrastructure teams to operate our systems in such fast growing financial markets in Hong Kong. 

Responsibilities 

• Perform database administration and support services in Linux, Windows and Cloud platform; 

• Implement and support infrastructure solutions in sophisticated, high-performance trading environments that demand stability, high throughput and low latency; 

• Provide support and implementation work to application teams including database setup and SQL performance analysis; 

• Provide advice for operating policies, technical architecture and configuration of database system; 

• Administer and manage MSSQL / Oracle Databases / IBM DB2 including monitoring, troubleshooting, installation, patching and upgrade, performance tuning, backup and recovery, stress test, capacity planning; 

• Implement compliance standards and perform regular system compliance review and proactively assesses exposure area; 

• Maintain high system availability and ensure all database systems work properly; 

• Review SQL, stored procedures and application interfaces with databases; 

• Manage vendor to ensure the highest quality delivery and implementation 

 

Requirements 

• Degree holder in Computer science, Computer engineering, information technology or relevant discipline 

• Minimum 5 years of working experience in managing and supporting Microsoft SQL / Oracle / IBM DB2 databases;  

• Solid experience with MSSQL, Oracle/IBM Db2 and shell script/programming would be an advantage; 

• Hands-on experience on Oracle database including RAC, ASM, DataGuard,  

• Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for MSSQL Server; 

• Knowledge in SQL and stored procedures; 

• Advanced knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards; Understanding of relational and dimensional data modelling 

• Strong hands-on experience in developing script solutions for process improvement and automation 

• Experience in system programming and administration on Linux or Windows Platform 

• Experiences in AWS RDS and MongoDB or PostgreSQLis an advantage 

• Experiences in Cloud DB transformation is an advantage 

• Proactive, strong troubleshooting, diagnostic and analytical skills
