About the role

Brown and Caldwell (BC) is a pioneer and recognized industry leader in wastewater, drinking water, water resources, stormwater, infrastructure, site remediation, waste management and recycling/reuse, environmental planning and permitting, and program management. BC serves both municipal and private sector clients throughout the US and beyond.

We currently have a unique opportunity for a mid to senior-level consultant to join our growing Private Sector business unit. Encouraged to apply are candidates with recognized expertise in natural sciences, site remediation and restoration, environmental planning and permitting, and regulatory compliance with project management and delivery skills. Experience managing CERCLA (Superfund), RCRA, and Clean Water Act projects and programs as well as oversight of cultural, air, water quality, land use planning, ecological restoration and supporting technical studies are important. This role will primarily work virtually or at the client project site in New Jersey. 

Detailed Description:

The preferred candidate will have a passion for providing clients with creative technical solutions to their project and program needs and working with a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team. The successful candidate(s) must possess proven professional consulting or related experience in the requisite practice areas providing value to work collaboratively within an entrepreneurial knowledge-based culture.  Job responsibilities are as follows: 

  • Be a team player to create innovative and effective solutions that are aligned with our client’s needs and company’s business objectives.
  • Be an essential member of our growing site investigation/remediation and environmental planning and permitting services teams with a focus on federal and state permitting, siting and regulatory review, and environmental assessment for industrial projects within the US.
  • Provide technical and project management on a variety of site investigation/remediation and environmental planning and permitting projects.
  • Ability to effectively manage projects and programs, in diverse settings and with changing requirements.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • A minimum 10 years’ consulting experience providing site investigation/remediation and environmental planning and permitting services with progressive responsibilities in project delivery and management.
  • B.S. degree in engineering, environmental science, or related discipline.
  • Strong organizational and technical skills required, experience with project management preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written (technical writing) communication skills required.
  • Experience in successfully managing projects and delivering on time and on budget while meeting or exceeding client expectations.
  • Ability to motivate others and be part of project teams to implement plans for projects and client pursuits.
  • Proven team leader with passion for a collaborative work style.
  • Highly responsive, capable of working in a diverse team environment and handling multiple tasks with competing priorities.
  • Positive, can-do attitude, flexible and self-motivated, and have an attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a virtual environment across multiple company teams.
  • Proficient in analyzing environmental and natural resource datasets for technical reports and permitting applications and documentation.
  • Demonstrated experience working with federal agencies such as U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), NOAA Fisheries, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Reclamation, Bureau of Land Management, etc.
  • Periodic travel with field work is anticipated.
  • Valid driver’s license, and good driving record required.

Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Location A: 

Salary: $94,000 - $128,000

Location B:

Salary: $103,000 - $141,000

Location C:

Salary: $113,000 - $154,000
