Become a Lifeguard

As a Lifeguard at the YMCA, you’ll be responsible for:

• Explaining and enforcing safety regulations and rules to ensure a safe environment for all swimmers.
• Monitoring for any safety hazards and assisting in poolside activities.
• Remaining rescue-ready at all times, implementing emergency procedures when necessary.
• Assessing swimming capabilities of individuals in the aquatic area to ensure they are safe.
• For Swim Instructors, providing structured lessons following the YUSA curriculum.
• Participating in training and shadowing shifts as part of your onboarding process.

• Must be a minimum of 18 years of age

• At least 2 years of lifeguard experience

• Current certifications in Lifeguard/Swim Instructor, Pro CPR, First Aid and Oxygen, or willing to obtain

• Seeking applicants with day time availability interested in summer season employment anticipated start date in May or June, sooner if available!
