Data Scientist GenAI, AVP

Who we are looking for

At State Street, Bionics is a strategic global team with members located in USA, Poland, UK, China, and India. The Artificial Intelligence group within this team has the mission to explore, enable and exploit generative AI, machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision and cognitive computing at scale for multiple use cases across Global Delivery, Global Advisors, Global Markets and Alpha business lines. The team has a mix of AI technology, quantitative modeling, data science, financial engineering, and software engineering capabilities. We are seeking to hire a candidate that has sufficient background in Data Science and the potential to contribute effectively to solutions for operational efficiency, investment and risk management related domains, or client experience.

What you will be responsible for

As Data Scientist - Generative AI and ML you will

• Integrate, customize, and train well known model and algorithm in open source libraries to solve financial market problem and perform validation and bug fixes
• Build models and algorithms from scratch time to time and perform validation including but not limited to goal function, loss function, accuracy function, error function, similarity function, optimization function, and simulation function depending on type of problem and technique used
• Assist Solution Development Leads in design, development, and validation of AI components
• Write model documentation with lead financial engineer and modeler about problem statement, assumption, data input, methodology, implementation framework, and test result
• Support IT integration, QA/UAT and deployment, operationalizing and productizing solutions
• Support production issue pertinent to model and algorithm including the ones used in open source libraries if any

Required skills and experience:

• Master's degree in AI/ML, Computer Science, Engineering or Sciences (with a background in Machine learning), with at least three years of full-time work experience.
• Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing solutions utilizing GenerativeAI and ML components, and patterns like RAG and Text-to-SQL.
• Hands on experience in working with Azure OpenAI services or other managed large language models
• Experience with evaluation validation and refinement of results from Generative AI RAG  or Text to SQL applications
• Experience with setting up monitoring, observability and guardrails for Generative AI solutions
• Extensive experience in Python programming languages along with popular frameworks

Preferred skills and experience:

• Experience with AI ML search and data services within Azure or AWS ecosystem
• Demonstrated understanding of how state-of-the-art LLMs can be induced to use explicitly supplied structured and unstructured information, their implicit world knowledge and their abilities to solve problems such as extraction, evaluation and comparison or document structures in investment management.
• A grasp of tools for knowledge extraction, representation and reasoning.
• A track record of managing the "exploration vs exploitation" tradeoff to deliver innovative solutions for first-of-a-kind problems.
• Excellent understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms such as GPTs, CNN, RNN, kNN, xgBoost, Naive Bayes, SVM, Random Forests etc
