This role is critical in maintaining the integrity of financial reporting across our global business, owning day-to-day transactional approvals, driving quarterly financial reporting and lender compliance, and managing a team of two accounting professionals. The ideal candidate possesses deep accounting knowledge, hands-on leadership experience, strong SOX awareness, and a working understanding of payment processing and transaction flows.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop a team accounting staff, providing direction, coaching, and review of work product across assigned corporate accounting areas.
  • Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes across multiple entities, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely reporting under US GAAP.
  • Own corporate accounting areas including fixed assets (ASC 360), payroll accounting, lease accounting (ASC 842), operating expense (OpEx) management, and standalone internal monthly financials for corporate entities.
  • Initiate and own the process for preparing standalone internal monthly financial statements and quarterly financial reporting packages, including the development of scalable, repeatable close procedures.
  • Review and approve complex journal entries, account reconciliations, intercompany eliminations, and financial statement components; support quarterly lender filings and debt covenant compliance reporting.
  • Ensure proper application of accounting standards such as ASC 842 (Leases) and ASC 830 (Foreign Currency Translation) along with familiarity of ASC 606 (Revenue Recognition) and ASC 805 (Business Combinations).
  • Review SOX team findings, assess control gaps, and drive early remediation of prior-year deficiencies; maintain a strong internal control environment and actively participate in control design and improvement activities.
  • Liaise with external auditors and management consultants in support of necessary audits and reviews.
  • Manage and execute special accounting projects as assigned, including ERP enhancements, automation of reconciliations, finance process optimization, and other initiatives requiring technical accounting judgment.
  • Directly manage and mentor accounting staff members, setting clear goals, reviewing deliverables, and promoting continuous development in technical and operational accounting areas.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required.
  • 6–8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles.
  • Prior experience in the payments, fintech, or financial services industry strongly preferred.
  • Experience in managing shared services or centralized accounting functions.
