Position Summary
The Regional Vice President of Operations (VPO) provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for a portfolio of skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities throughout Northern Kentucky. The VPO is responsible for ensuring excellence in resident care, regulatory compliance, financial performance, employee engagement, and census growth. Working closely with facility Administrators and corporate leadership, the VPO develops and executes operational strategies that drive quality outcomes, maximize profitability, and foster a culture of accountability and service.
Essential Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
Provide direct oversight and leadership to multiple Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) Administrators.
Ensure each facility consistently meets or exceeds operational, clinical, financial, and customer satisfaction goals.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement action plans to improve results.
Conduct routine facility visits and operational reviews to assess performance and provide coaching.
Financial Management
Oversee regional budgets, financial performance, and expense management.
Analyze labor, census, payer mix, and operating expenses to maximize profitability.
Develop and implement strategies to improve reimbursement and operational efficiency.
Ensure facilities achieve budgeted EBITDA and occupancy targets.
Regulatory Compliance & Quality
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including CMS and Kentucky Department for Public Health requirements.
Partner with clinical leadership to improve Five-Star Quality Ratings, survey outcomes, infection prevention, and quality measures.
Lead facilities through state and federal surveys and oversee correction plans when necessary.
Promote continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Census Development
Collaborate with Admissions, Marketing, and Business Development teams to grow census and optimize payer mix.
Build relationships with hospitals, physicians, managed care organizations, and community referral sources.
Monitor market trends and competitive positioning throughout the region.
Leadership Development
Recruit, mentor, and develop Administrators and regional leadership.
Conduct performance evaluations and succession planning.
Promote employee engagement, retention, and leadership development.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence.
Clinical Collaboration
Partner with Regional Clinical Directors to ensure high-quality resident care.
Support initiatives that reduce rehospitalizations and improve clinical outcomes.
Monitor staffing levels and workforce effectiveness.
Strategic Planning
Participate in acquisitions, transitions, start-ups, and facility integrations.
Assist with annual strategic planning and long-range operational initiatives.
Identify opportunities for growth, operational efficiencies, and service expansion.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Nursing, or related field required.
Master's degree (MHA, MBA, MSN, or related discipline) preferred.
Current Nursing Home Administrator (NHA) license preferred or previous Administrator experience strongly preferred.
Minimum of 5–8 years of progressive leadership experience in Skilled Nursing or Long-Term Care operations.
Multi-facility operational leadership experience required.
Demonstrated success in financial management, regulatory compliance, census growth, and leadership development.
Thorough knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, managed care, PDPM, and long-term care regulations.
Ability to travel extensively throughout Northern Kentucky.
