About the role

Leidos is seeking a Senior System Integration & Test Engineer who will be a lead member of a dynamic team who will be working on the Federal Aviation Administration’s Terminal Flight Data Management (TFDM) program. TFDM is a system that will improve aircraft runway and terminal congestion. Nationwide congestion is increasing, and the need for efficient aircraft traffic planning is critical. TFDM is the surface management solution that will provide NextGen Air Traffic Control capabilities to improve air traffic operations in the National Airspace System (NAS).

Location: Gaithersburg, MD (3 days a week onsite and 2 days a week from home office)

Responsibilities:

Working both as a member of a team and independently the successful candidate will:

  • Optimizing the experience for the flying public, Air Traffic Control, and the airline industry by improving the collaboration and decision-making capabilities of flight controllers
  • Lead the technical execution and testing of multiple parallel builds and collaborate with customers on driving activities
  • Work directly with system integrators, program leadership, and cross teams to identify functional, usability and performance deficiencies and provide recommendations for improvements
  • Collaborate on developing and coordinating operationally relevant test strategies and evaluation test procedures
  • Define and develop Test processes and procedures in support of functional and system testing within fast paced development environment
  • Develop and reinforce an overall team goal of high quality, test efficiencies, and on time results to meet program schedules
  • Produce Test Evaluation Reports, Status Reports for active build testing and provide inputs to Government Test & Evaluation Strategy, Test & Evaluation Master Plan, Test Procedures, Test Readiness Reviews, and Final Test Reports
  • Assists other engineers in the design and execution of tests, analysis of data, and the reporting & documentation of results, including the interpretation of the significance of the findings
  • Able to integrate complex software with little to no outside support
  • Debug system level issues and provide detailed supporting data on identified issues
  • Able to understand System Level Requirements
  • Provide guidance to test team and ensure team goals are appropriately set to meet all program milestones
  • Developing and maintaining test approaches and procedures derived from requirements
  • Analyze identified issues in conjunction with System Engineering and Software in regards to developing solutions
  • Support test and requirement verification & validation
  • Learning system architecture, design, functions and capabilities to support the integration and test of the new capabilities and enhancements.
  • Act as technical liaison between system test integrators and software development teams to ensure seamless integration of content across multiple releases.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Executing tests manually in the Physical Lab and Virtual Test Lab (VTL)
  • Perform formal test execution with the customer and quality assurance organizations

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline with 9+ years of professional experience; or a Master’s degrees from an accredited college in a related discipline with 7+ years of professional experience
  • Ability to obtain an SF-85P Public Trust clearance from the FAA customer.
  • Experience leading and directing activities of a team
  • Experience in following a documented Integration and Test Development Process
  • Experience in the use of UNIX and Linux operating systems
  • Strong integration skills with hands-on experience integrating large software complex systems
  • Strong communication skills to interface with internal and external customers
