Position Summary:

This position will support commercial energy efficiency programs by performing outreach, recruitment and education activities with trade allies focusing on the HVAC, mechanical & Chiller markets. The position is responsible for

  • Promoting products and services through HVAC and mechanical trade allies/vendor channels in the assigned territory.

  • Convey new and upcoming developments and changes in the non-residential energy efficiency rebate programs to trade allies and customers.

  • Gather valuable trade ally and customer feedback to help track and measure the program’s success in transforming the marketplace.

  • Interface with the public and resolve trade ally and customer issues, complaints and questions about the program.

This is the intermediate level of the Trade Ally Outreach Representative classification hierarchy.  Employees at this level solve more complex problems in business energy areas of specialization with general supervision.  Employees are expected to develop advanced skills and the ability to work with greater independence. They effectively apply fundamental concepts and procedures to work that is fairly complex and varied. The purpose of the Trade Ally Outreach Representative is to develop relationships with vendors, introduce those vendors to Duke Energy Products and Services, and nurture the long-term relationship for further cross-sell opportunities as new products are available for the business markets.

Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following

Basic/Required Qualifications:

Product & Services Specialist

  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Finance, Marketing or related degree.

  • OR High School/GED Degree and five (5) years related work experience

Senior Product & Services Specialist

  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Finance, Marketing or related degree AND two (2) years related work experience.

  • OR High School/GED Degree and five (7) years related work experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • 3+ years' experience working in the non-residential HVAC, mechanical, or Chiller space.

  • Knowledge of the utility industry and utility rebate programs.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software tools and demonstrated ability to learn new systems.

  • Experience in one or more of the energy efficiency technologies: Lighting, HVAC, Pumps, Foodservice, Industrial.

  • Basic knowledge of EE technologies, Sales and/or customer/vendor facing experience.

  • Comfort level with public speaking.

  • Be able to juggle deadlines, follow-up, and varying types of calls to and from different technologies, lighting, HVAC, pumps, drives, and others.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment to achieve shared goals.

  • Ability to develop recommendations on energy efficiency improvements and equipment retrofits, identification of outdoor lighting, demand response, and energy services leads, as well as any future products and services that may be developed.

  • Maintain accurate records/documentation.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Knowing how to prioritize workload.

  • Solid phone skills.

  • Self-starter.

  • Proven ability to organize and manage large volumes of information.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment to achieve shared goals.

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills to interact effectively.

  • Knowledge of the utility industry.

  • Experience in CRM (Customer Relation Management) related system to track activities, results, tasks.
