About you and this role

Dow has an opportunity for an Associate TS&D Scientist / TS&D Scientist as part of Dow Plastics Additives (DPA) located in Lauterbourg, France. In this fast paced, customer-facing technical role you are a member of a customer account team within the TS&D Group. You will partner with technical team members, sales and marketing to commercialize new innovations and defend existing business. You will receive significant external industry exposure via presenting frequently to external partners, and be responsible for working across functions and Dow businesses to find solutions.

You will partner with current Sales Service and R&D team members to fill our innovation pipeline through robust internal scouting and close collaboration with key customers.  You will provide technical leadership for the DPA new business development portfolio in engineering thermoplastics and thermosets applications, and deliver on Dow’s business strategy of providing differentiated innovation to key partners.

Responsibilities

• Provide TS&D support to key business accounts, respond to technical questions of customers and connect customers to other Dow market-facing businesses.
• Use broad market, customer, and application knowledge and in-depth understanding of competitive technologies to solve complex technical issues.
• Identify innovation opportunities and contribute to extending Dow’s project portfolio and technology roadmap with customers to enable sustained value generation.
• Apply project and scientific methodologies in an exemplary manner.
• Partner with internal teams such as marketing, manufacturing, and other Dow businesses to meet customer needs.
• Prepare experimental plans, using relevant internal test methods, to develop results which provide insights into application performance.
• Develop new approaches and solutions to problems by considering issues from different points of view.
• Lead technical sub teams, utilizing effective project management practices, to collaboratively deliver value adding solutions.
• Deliver excellent presentations or reports that distill complex ideas into clear results and proposals; communicate appropriately to influence internal and external audiences.
• Communicate and appropriately document work in the form of internal reports/ROC's/presentations.
• Participate in the development and implementation of IC strategy for a business or platform, fully participate in the development of technology maps for projects and lead areas of IP development.
• Coaches others in identifying opportunities and how to understand and articulate value of Dow technologies in different applications.
• Must be willing and able to meet all applicable requirements related to business travel supporting customers throughout EMEAI.  Approximately 25% travel is expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience required.
• Bachelor Degree in Chemistry, Engineering, or science related field required.
• Masters degree or PhD preferred.
• You speak fluent French and English
