Job Description:
The position will perform administrative support functions in the Gordon A. Cain Center for STEM Literacy and reports to its Executive Director. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, general office management, electronic communication, word processing, spreadsheets and electronic surveys development, data base management, scheduling of appointments and support of administrative functions of the Executive Director. Work requires individual discretion in the application of policies and procedures.
20% Coordination: Assist the Executive Director and the Assistant Director for Pre-College Programs in coordinating all logistic matters such as room scheduling registration related to the preparation, delivery, and evaluation of the annual LSU Teacher Summer Training Institute. Communication and coordination of efforts with all LSU STEM Pathways faculty and support staff is required.
20% Scheduling: Schedules LSU STEM Pathways and LSU ONE appointments for the Executive Director; prepares agendas and other materials and distributes in a timely manner; independently composes routine correspondence for the LSU STEM Pathways and LSU ONE.
20% Communication: Assists the Executive Director in routine communications with Louisiana School Systems in all matters related to the LSU STEM Pathways and LSU ONE.
15% Data Management: Maintains files and data on school system as well as LSU System personnel participating in the LSU STEM Pathways and LSU ONE. Supports Executive Director in developing strategic plans, reports, surveys, and charts for the university, the Louisiana Board of Regents, the Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education, the Louisiana Department of Education, and other professional agencies. Creates and manages appropriate metrics to measure, analyze, and report progress pertaining to organizational development activities and initiatives. Generates program performance data to inform future iterations of the LSU STEM Pathways Elementary/ Middle School Program.
15% Support: Assists the Executive Director in coordinating setting up teacher-led development of elementary and middle school STEM initiatives to be piloted and modified to meet individual school-level needs. Meets regularly with the elementary/ middle school program staff and teacher participants to maintain high outcome achievement and engineer solutions to support teacher participant success in the classroom throughout the school year.
5% Budget: Conducts vendor research for educational and ongoing development opportunities, and aids in the creation of a budget and purchase of necessary materials for outreach.
5% Other Duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Three years of experience in which clerical work was a major duty.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
Training in a business or clerical-related curriculum in a business school or technical institute will substitute for the required experience on the basis of six months of training for six months of experience for a maximum of one year of the required experience.
Completion of a business or clerical-related curriculum in a business school or technical institute will substitute for a maximum of one year of the required experience.
College training will substitute for the required experience on the basis of 15 semester hours for six months of experience.
NOTE:
Business or technical school training with less than completion will only be credited in six month increments. Similarly, college training will only be credited in 15 semester hour increments.

Any college hours or degree must be from an accredited college or university.
