Job Description

The ASUN Center for Student Engagement (CSE) at the University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for an undergraduate Student Assistant Director of Pack Provisions. Pack Provisions is UNR’s on-campus food pantry, located on the third floor of the Joe Crowley Student Union. By providing free access to food and hygiene products, the pantry strives to support all Wolf Pack members in eliminating barriers to academic success. Pack Provisions also provides a range of resources including education materials, SNAP education outreach, meal swipes, and connection to other on- and off- campus support services.

The Student Assistant Director of Pack Provisions plays a vital role in the day-to-day operations of this essential resource, and the ongoing development of the program. The Student Assistant Director of Pack Provisions reports to a full-time staff member of the ASUN Center for Student Engagement. Responsibilites

  • Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers to assist with operating the pantry and its programming

  • Schedule and track volunteer engagement through the management platform, GivePulse

  • Drive to various locations for pick ups

  • Work with on- and off-campus collaborators to plan, schedule, and advertise events such as Mobile Monday, Swipe Drives, and other outreach efforts

  • Oversee pantry marketing needs in collaboration with ASUN Inkblot

  • Coordinate donation drives with on- and off- campus partners

  • Manage the announcements to keep pantry guests informed with pantry announcements and additional resources

  • Serve as an ambassador for the pantry by representing Pack Provisions both on- and off- campus, interacting with students, staff, faculty, alumni, media, and community partners in person, on the phone, and through email

  • Provide exceptional customer service to pantry guests, responding to questions, requests for assistance, and suggestions

  • Assist with loading and unloading of food and stocking shelves

  • Ensure the pantry is in accordance with proper health codes by safely handling and storing food and completing necessary checks and temperature logs

  • Clean the pantry, storage areas, and distribution tools, as needed

  • Develop/improve policies and procedures, as necessary

  • Assist with updating data records

  • Support the mission of the ASUN Center for Student Engagement and values including, equity and inclusion, learning, service, leadership and community
