Join our Engineer Development Program in 2025!
This rotational training program in the Applied Materials Varian Semiconductor Equipment business unit is located in Gloucester, MA. It is designed to attract, assimilate, grow, and retain the most talented engineers entering the industry today.
During the first two years of employment, Fusion members go through a series of rotational work assignments. The rotations typically consist of three or four unique engineering assignments. These rotations help program members and managers determine where they will flourish in their full-time position at Applied Materials.
Applied Materials’ Control Systems Software Department is searching for New College Graduates to join our team! Our department develops the software for the control system of semiconductor process equipment. This includes developing interfaces for advanced sensors, designing the data and control flow, creating algorithms for the optimal material engineering on an atomic scale and the real-time control of devices such as robots, motors, generators, pumps and flow controllers. Other aspects of our work include the design of the user interface, data collection, storage and analysis, machine learning and analytics, remote access and security.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designs, prototypes and develops moderately difficult software solutions for semiconductor equipment components and devices
- Designs common software modules and libraries for use across multiple products
- Troubleshoots a variety of moderately difficult software problems. Designs and implements bug fixes
- Defines software specifications
- Suggests and implements improvements to the development and troubleshooting process
- Develops software documentation
- Interfaces with internal and external customers for requirement analysis, project schedule and software troubleshooting
- Coordinate with Cross-Functional Engineering teams including EE, ME, Systems, and Physics to design and release solutions to high value problems.
Requirements:
- Proficiency and experience in C and C++ is required.
In addition, programming experience in several of the following areas is desired: - Real-time Control
- Motion Control
- Multi-threading, performance profiling
- Visual Studio
Education:
- Graduating with a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering or a related field
- Student must be in good academic standing at their university, with a preferred GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale
