Summary
The employee is under the supervision of the Nutrition Coordinator. This position is responsible forassisting in the preparation of daily meals (breakfast, lunch, and snacks) for Head Start children,
staff, and parent volunteers.
Examples of duties
- Will assist in overall food preparation.
- Will assist in cleaning the kitchen.
- Will follow all hygiene/safety standards (local, state, and Federal).
- Must pack food and utensils in transportation containers.
- Must keep a daily count of food inventory.
- Will perform other related duties as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of county and departmental policies and procedures.
- Ability to read the menu.
- Must be in good physical and mental health.
- Must have a personality that is conducive to working with co-workers.
- Must be of good moral character.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing in the English language and orally in the Spanish language.
Qualifications
- Must have a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
- Must have at least one ( 1 ) year of working experience in food preparation in a restaurant or school setting.
- Must be bilingual (English and Spanish).

Other Requirements/Information
- Must possess a valid and current Texas driver's license.
- The Webb County Drug and Alcohol Policy applies to this position. Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing, a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check, and a criminal background check are required.
- This position is not covered under Civil Service; however, all other Webb County policies apply.
