Job Purpose
Dana is searching for a skilled and motivated candidate in Electrified Powertrain Control Systems to lead the development of Functional Safety Software including Application and Base Software in an AUTOSAR Environment. As Functional Safety Software Engineer, you will be responsible for the compliance of all safety related software with the relevant functional safety standards. This work involves being able to drive and guide the team in development of safety specific features and functions for vehicle systems and components using Matlab/Simulink and related MBD tools as well as the hand code (.c/.h) tightly coupled with the AUTOSAR workflow using third party tool chains such as Vector DaVinci towards delivering an integrated work product. This way be part of expanding Dana’s commitment to products that improve vehicle safety, performance, and fuel economy. Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Contribute to the creation of technical safety requirements.
- Software development plan in compliance to the relevant functional safety standards.
- Derive software safety requirements for the application software and/or platform software.
- Specify safety mechanisms (e.g., Plausibility check, Memory protection, etc.) in application software and/or platform software.
- HSIS (Hardware-Software Interface Specification) development between software and internal/externally developed hardware.
- Support implementation of software safety requirements at the application software layer and/or platform software.
- Support the development of a software architectural design that satisfies the software safety requirements and the other software requirements including ASIL decomposition, freedom-from-interference, etc.
- Drive the safety analysis at Software level using techniques such as FTA, SW-FMEA, Dependent failure analysis, etc.
- Support specification of test procedures and testing of the software requirements at unit, software integration and embedded software level.
- Actively engage with core process/method/tool team in improvements of development methods per ASPICE and ISO26262.
- Lead issue, change and configuration management on projects as required.
- Mentor, coach, and train team members as required.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in developing safety software within the automotive or equivalent industries (e.g., aerospace).
- Degree education in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a relevant engineering discipline.
- Experience with ISO 26262, emphasizing ISO 26262 Parts 4, 6, 8, and 9.
- Knowledge of AUTOSAR Architecture and integration of Safety libraries from vendors.
- Experience in system and software engineering practices such as requirements authoring, architecture development, failure analysis, and test development.
- C programming and/or model-based design using Simulink.
- Experience with vehicle core domains, such as vehicle power up/power down, network architecture, power architecture, vehicle reset, etc., is a plus.
- Requirements management tools (e.g., Polarion, etc.), issue tracking tools (Jira, etc.), and SW version control tools (e.g., Git, Azure, SVN, etc.).
- Experience with AUTOSAR-based tool chains preferably with Vector DaVinci Developer and Configurator
- ASPICE and agile software development process.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills with a high level of integrity.
- Proven experience working on multiple projects.
- Strong team player driven to exceed expectations and meet deadlines.
