CNN Weather Intern: ATL - Fall 2024

Your New Role
This internship will be located in the ATL area. The selected intern will be expected to join us in the office on a regular cadence based on the intern manager’s in office schedule. CNN Weather department serves the weather and science needs for all the CNN platforms. The department provides on-air, digital weather and science coverage for CNN, CNNI, CNN.com as well as affiliated networks.
Your Role Accountabilities
Students would work with both domestic and international weather, as well as our digital platforms, and will have the opportunity to:
Participate in the production of on-air weather content
Research weather and science related stories, and provide information to on-air talent
Learn weather graphics software and build elements for on-air use
Have the ability to record a demo reel
Help create online content for use by CNN.com and other CNN online platforms
Participate in breaking weather and other related breaking news stories
Qualifications & Experience
Students should be at least junior level majoring in Meteorology or Atmospheric Sciences at an accredited University
Interested in pursuing a career in Broadcast Meteorology or weather/climate communications
A self-starter that is engaged in the weather and/or climate media landscape
A regular TV Weather watcher and/or reader of weather articles in local and national media
Some experience with TV weather graphics (either in school or a previous internship) or have written science-related articles in a non-academic setting strongly preferred
Must be actively enrolled in an accredited college or university degree program for the full duration of the internship (proof of enrollment required)
Must be a rising Junior or Senior Undergrad (18 years or older)
Must be in academic good standing (3.0 or above cumulative GPA)
