Now Hiring: Child Care Program Coordinator

The City of Largo is seeking a Child Care Program Coordinator to lead, plan, and oversee engaging and safe leisure service programs for children. This role is ideal for someone passionate about child development, program leadership, and building a strong team culture.

As Coordinator, you’ll be responsible for organizing and evaluating child care programs, hiring and training site staff, and ensuring that each program aligns with City standards and community needs. While guidance is provided by a Recreation Program Manager, you’ll have the independence to bring your creativity and expertise to the role.

Key Responsibilities:
Plan and implement child care and recreational programs

Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate staff across multiple childcare sites

Ensure compliance with policies, safety regulations, and quality standards

Evaluate program effectiveness and recommend improvements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership

  • Demonstrates an understanding and reflection of the City’s mission, vision, and values and a commitment to achieve organizational goals aligned with the City’s strategic plan

  • Articulates strategic and innovative thinking and provides clarity to deliver superior services

  • Approaches the job with enthusiasm and curiosity to promote a solutions-oriented work culture

Management

  • Effectively manages assignments and priorities to ensure the fulfillment of projects, tasks, and responsibilities

  • Follows suggested procedures to assure the highest standards of risk management, employee safety and risk avoidance

  • Directs staff in program development and direct care of children

  • Oversees lesson plans produced by each staff member and ensures that they are both completed and implemented

  • Maintains daily staff rosters that reflect coverage and required credentials on site

  • Monitors a program budget of expenses and revenues

  • Makes recommendations and maintains facility and program rules and regulations

Technical

  • Plans, implements and evaluates multiple leisure programs for child care programs

  • Develops special events by assessing needs, planning and organizing activities, supervising the event and conducting an event evaluation

  • Responsibilities include coordination of a before and after school program, directing a summer camp, and/or coordinating schools-out days and holiday camps

  • Schedules field trips, guest speakers and special programs for parents

  • Creates group rosters, maintains sign-in and sign-out sheets and completes attendance roster

  • Maintains all children's records, personnel records and facility records as required by the license board

  • Provides a monthly newsletter for parents

  • Collects payments and ensures that program fees are paid by those registered, on payment plan, on scholarship or in a special funding source

  • Purchases needed supplies for childcare programs

  • Monitors all training and requirements of the license board; includes Staff Member In Charge (SMIC), Child Development Associate (CDA), Directors Credentials, 40 clock hours of trai
