Essential Functions:

• Oversees the daily operations of the accounting department. Assigns and monitors tasks of staff members, provides training, sets schedules, ensures policies and procedures are followed, and deadlines are met. Implements changes in operations, policies, and procedures to improve efficiencies and operations. Understands duties and functions of direct reports.
• Completes ongoing coaching and regular monthly dialogs to provide feedback on performance and establish goals and action plans. Reports progress towards goal achievement to management. Motivates, coaches, and mentors staff. Identifies and resolves problems.
• Establishes and ensures proper accounting methods, policies and principles are utilized, including ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Leads the daily reconciliation of the credit union's financial records to ensure that all activities are completed in a timely and accurate manner to aid members, staff and management in the ability to access accurate and current information.
• Leads the monthly and year end close process including the preparation of timely and accurate financial statements and reports. Also leads and participates in the accurate and timely completion of quarterly regulatory reporting. Analyzes accounting data to assure the validity of completed statements and reports. Coordinates compilation of accounting related information for audits and regulatory examinations and answers questions of auditors/examiners.
• Maintains up to date knowledge related to lending procedures, policies, and regulations related to lending services; Trains and assists junior or peer lending services team members on relevant and applicable department procedures and functions; Drafts and maintains loan servicing procedures.

Experience:

• Three to five years proven working experience as an Accounting Manager or Accounting Supervisor, preferably in a credit union or financial institution, or similar or related experience.
• Requires a bachelor's degree in accounting.
