About the role
You will support pre-construction activities for our distributed generation projects, which typically include solar, natural gas generation, and energy storage resources.
This hybrid role will report to our Sr. Director of Project Engineering and Preconstruction, and will be based out of our HQ in Ridgewood, NJ.

Key responsibilities will include:
- Perform support tasks for pre-construction activities, including take-offs, bid solicitation, bid review, subcontractor negotiations, and creating final project budgets.
- Perform tasks in support of leveling bids (pricing) from all subcontractors and compare to internally developed costs on the opportunity to date
- Perform tasks in support of producing detailed and accurate scopes of work to aid in contractor pricing. Ensure internal and external stakeholder requirements are captured in the scope.
- Collaborate with the business development, engineering, and project management teams to develop internal stakeholders’ alignment throughout the pre-construction phase of each project.
- Use industry knowledge and experience to create early-stage project budgets based on conceptual scope.
- Coordinate equipment procurement strategy with procurement team and EPC contractor.
- Source updates on material pricing and labor rates.
- Price out multiple scenarios for projects within a short time frame.
- Perform site visits as needed (limited travel expected).
The Ideal Candidate:
- 2-4+ years of experience in Construction Management, general contracting, logistics, engineering, energy industry, with an emphasis on budgeting and cost estimating.
- Exhibit ability to build and maintain relationships with equipment vendors and contractors, specifically in the electrical construction and distributed energy field.
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.
- Work collaboratively and be comfortable interacting with different internal and external customers.
- A bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and Office Suite tools skills.
