OVERVIEW
This position is located within the Business Operations and Technology Directorate, National Air and Space Museum (NASM), Smithsonian Institution (SI). The mission of the NASM is to commemorate, educate and inspire. Learning at the National Air and Space Museum sparks curiosity and empowers learners to imagine the possibilities of our future. The museum collects, preserves and displays aeronautical and spaceflight artifacts of historical significance.This position reports to the Supervisory Administrative Officer, which reports to an Associate Director.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Personnel Management Operations- Works collaboratively with leadership and team members to support the hiring process which includes: initiating and reviewing requests for personnel actions, identifying selective and quality ranking factors to develop rating guides, review actions for completeness, appropriateness, and compliance prior to submission, and ensures that position descriptions meet appropriate classification standards for the series and grade proposed.
- With leadership guidance, manages the unit’s financial disclosure statements and procedures.
- Analyzes various sources of information (i.e. budget for Trust and Federal), hiring restrictions, and provides advice on appropriate staffing options, guidelines and procedures for conducting administrative support and program operations
- With supervisory support, acts as a liaison to SI’s Office of Human Resources regarding: classification, staffing, recruitment, human resource development, and pay administration.
- Maintain personnel-related records such as: performance ratings, performance plans, performance awards, and position descriptions.
- Serves as the central point of contact for human resource management system, performance review platforms, timekeeping system, and other IT programs related to HR.
- Manages NASM’s organization charts, employee vacancy reports, and other directories.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Experience required for this position is as follows:- Knowledge of human resources practices including maintaining personnel records.
- Ability to organize information and processes.
