Location: While the role is primarily remote, we’re seeking candidates located within reasonable travel distance to our Schaumburg, IL office, as you’ll join the team 1–2 times per quarter for collaboration, connection, and culture-building moments.
Job Description
As a People Team Generalist, you will play a vital role in supporting the full spectrum of HR functions, including employee lifecycle management, HR systems, compliance, culture, and engagement. While recruitment is a core part of the role, our collaborative environment and streamlined operations mean you’ll also have the capacity to drive impactful HR initiatives and champion operational excellence. You’ll act as a trusted advisor to employees and managers, ensuring a seamless experience across all HR touchpoints, and serve as the go-to specialist for recruitment-bringing best practices, curiosity, and strategic thinking to our hiring processes.
As the People Team Generalist, you will be responsible for:
Recruitment Duties
- Drive the full recruitment journey through our ATS (SmartRecruiters) from posting and sourcing to screening and onboarding ensuring every new hire experience is engaging, efficient, and impactful.
- Build relationships with hiring managers to understand role requirements and deliver a high-quality candidate experience.
- Maintain and enhance talent pipelines through proactive sourcing and employer branding.
- Champion inclusive, equitable, and belonging-focused hiring practices that ensure every candidate feels valued and welcomed.
- Analyze recruitment data and trends to identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Develop and document recruitment SOPs, ensuring compliance and consistency.
People Team Generalist Duties
- Serve as the first point of contact for new employees-providing guidance on onboarding, benefits, leave, and offboarding, while supporting the broader team with day-to-day people-related needs.
- Coordinate onboarding and exit processes to ensure a smooth employee experience.
- Support HR systems (HRIS, ATS) by maintaining data accuracy, generating insights, and driving process improvements.
- Assist with audits, data reviews, and special HR projects.
- Coordinate employee engagement events and support culture-building initiatives.
- Contribute to internal communications, including newsletters and engagement updates.
- Support training and development programs, including scheduling, tracking participation, and collecting feedback.
- Help manage employee clubs and hybrid community engagement activities.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's in Human Resources or a related field preferred.
Experience
- 1–3 years of experience in Human Resources, recruitment, or a related people-focused role.
- Exposure to or interest in full-cycle recruitment and HR operations, with a desire to grow into a broader generalist capacity.
- Experience with LinkedIn Recruiter, HR systems, Applicant Tracking Systems (SmartRecruiters preferred), and HRIS platforms is an asset.
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn employment standards, HR best practices, and compliance requirements.
- Comfortable working in a hybrid or fast-paced environment, building strong relationships across teams and departments.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and identify opportunities for process improvement.
