PowerGen Field Risk Engineers are responsible for working with account engineers, underwriters, clients, and brokers to help identify and improve risk for various energy sectors, including but not limited to: Power Generation and Renewable Energy Generation. The PowerGen Field Risk Engineers are integral in allowing AIG to better understand exposures and contribute specialized knowledge to help in identifying and mitigating risks. This position is home-based with fieldwork conducted at insured facilities.
How you will create an impact
- This position is home based with fieldwork across a range of insured client facilities. Your consultative role will focus on conducting loss prevention surveys of loss control inspections, desk top reviews, and account reviews for a wide range of Energy accounts.
- Determine key loss prevention attributes at various energy facilities.
- Evaluate Process Safety Management and overall Management Programs
- Evaluate business interruption exposures including CBI and IBI
- Determine building construction and assess construction characteristics as applicable.
- Analyze water supplies and sprinkler system demands to determine water supply and sprinkler system adequacy.
- Identify occupancy hazards and assess the adequacy of their protection features.
- Identify and assess the impact of external exposures on a facility.
- Determine fire and natural catastrophe loss estimates for a facility.
- Conduct consultative visits at customer facilities.
- Conduct plan reviews.
- Document survey results in a data-driven report writing application.
- Mentor and train lesser experienced staff.
What you’ll need to succeed
- Bachelor’s degree in science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics
- Minimum fifteen (15) years of industry experience in electric Power Generation or specialized risk engineering experience in this field.
- Knowledge of a wide range of occupancies, exposures per best business practices
- Strong ability to identify, analyze and solve problems as well as the ability to learn rapidly, adapt quickly to change, exercise influence, and manage and prioritize multiple concurrent projects.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment, adapting to changing requirements and collaborating with a wide range of colleagues to quickly deliver solutions.
- Superb verbal and written communication skills
- Position is expected to travel and attend meetings at various offices, fields, plants, facilities, and construction sites.
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to perform physical activities required for the position (i.e., be on feet and walking 8-10 hours a day, safely work at heights).
- Ability to understand and appreciate safety training specific to numerous workplace and construction hazards.
- Ability to safely use ladders, scaffolds, lifts, and other access equipment.
- Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to perform work in the outdoors.
- Ability to wear safety equipment required for the position (hard hat, safety shoes, safety glasses and hearing protection).
- Ability to safely work in a variety of occupationally hazardous locations.
- Ability to type at a computer for several hours a day.
- Ability to drive and safely operate a motor vehicle.
For positions based in New York City, the base salary range is $86,000-$120,000 and the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
