What You’ll Do

Samsung Semiconductor, Inc. is searching for talented Modem Platform software architect possessing excellent background and practical experience with Software development for modem module applications.

You will develop, analyze, and optimize the modem performance focusing on enabling various internal/customer platform. You will lead SW team working on debugging and testing of our next generation of chipsets (for all RATs) in internal platform and customer network platform.

Location: Hybrid, working onsite at our San Diego, CA office 3 days a week, with the flexibility to work remotely the remainder of your time.

• Developing the SW Architecture of Industrial 5G Modem platform (FWA/CPE/PC 5G).
• Understanding various RATs (2G/3G/4G/LTE/5G-NR) for 3GPP compliance.
• Perform the evaluation, specification and integration of Linux kernel, BSP, bootloader, drivers, etc.
• Evaluate embedded Linux software in C at both kernel and application level.
• Bring up new devices and lead debugging and performance tuning exercises that span multiple hardware/firmware/software teams.
• Maintain existing software platforms, root cause analysis, bug fixes and feature enhancement.
• Proven experience with solving real-time embedded issues, including: threading, optimization, memory management, interrupt handling, etc.

What You Bring

• Bachelors with 15+ years of relevant industry experience, or Masters with 13+ years or PhD with 10+ years in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field preferred.
• Basic Modem knowledge pertaining to all RATs and debugging experience in mobile applications.
• Leading Platform SW in 3GPP modem system is required.
• Strong understanding PCIe, Ethernet MAC interface.
• Strong background of networking protocols (TCP, UDP, IP etc).
• Working experience with DSL/PON/Wifi products is a plus.
• Understanding of complete end-to-end WLAN system is a plus.

Individual pay rates depend on a number of factors—including the role’s function and location, as well as the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, education, and training. Base Pay Range$132,800—$270,000 USD
