About the role

The Solution Architect is responsible for providing business and technical guidance and applying retail industry knowledge to the Oracle Retail software functionality during all phases of the project life cycle.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical and/or functional leadership, motivation, and direction to the project team;
  • Collaborate with project team to achieve client and team objectives;
  • Guide the team on industry best practices and continually share knowledge;
  • Ensure the best delivery practice and methods for the implementation of Oracle Retail solutions have been adopted within the project plan;
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, conducive to incremental business development;
  • Assist in the definition of project objectives, scope, organization, timelines, and overall approach;
  • Consider and define implementation and integration alternatives;
  • Collaborate with the OLR team consistent with the Project Charter and the Project Plan;
  • Act as a contact for the team to provide technical and/or functionality advice and provide coaching to the client business process team users;
  • Define the system configuration requirements, identify gaps and recommend system modifications and process changes to optimally satisfy business requirements using the Oracle Retail suite of applications;
  • Document technical and/or functional requirements for modifications and support design process for the client;
  • Escalate project issues that cannot be resolved within his/her sphere of influence and/or authority to the Project Manager as needed;
  • Assist the client Business Process Team Leader to develop the strategy and plan the work required by the Business Process Team to support implementation;
  • Perform go-live assessments to determine readiness of the system as well as client and support teams;
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of the functional capabilities and integration points of the Oracle Retail solution;
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of a subset of the following retail concepts: merchandising, inventory management, warehouse management, store operations, planning/forecasting, replenishment, allocations, trade management and pricing;
  • Assist with the documentation of ‘As Is’ business processes and the development of ‘To Be’ business processes;
  • Assist with the documentation of Business to System Architecture and Integrations;
  • Schedule and participate in workshop sessions for clients to address the business process requirements with Oracle Retail functionality;
  • Ensure follow up and resolve issues arising from workshop sessions and/or related to business processes and system functionality;
  • Drive test plan definition, creation and execution;
  • Facilitate the logging, reporting, and resolution of application issues;
  • Manage and Supervise other Solution Consultants;
  • Provides clear vision and stimulates higher performance standards.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support development of functional product knowledge for clients and OLR team members;
  • Assist in handoff to support team upon successful project completion of the implementation

Requirements

Essential skills:

  • Understanding of Oracle Retail solution functional concepts, technical architecture, integration points, and functional application knowledge;
  • Demonstrable experience in the definition of business process definition and improvement;
  • Working knowledge of the practices, procedures and principles of project management;
  • Ability to identify and proactively solve problems for Oracle Retail clients;
  • Strong client negotiation and demonstrated consulting skills;
  • Understands and demonstrates financial responsibility as related to overall project budget and timelines;
  • Capable of driving process improvement;
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence;
  • Ability to work with clients to build a sense of shared ownership and minimizes potential resistance;
  • High degree of initiative, motivation and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to change in a complex global organization;
  • Professional approach when dealing with internal and external customers, including clear and concise written and verbal communication skills;
  • High degree of initiative, accuracy, efficiency, and attention to detail;
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude under stressful circumstances;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with proprietary information

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in a Computer Scienc
