The Manager, Transportation Systems at ShipBob will be responsible for developing and executing a network configuration strategy that will influence the outcomes of millions of shipments and the largest cost center in our P&L. This role will work closely with Transportation Procurement, Finance, Forecasting, Operations, Network Strategy, and Product/Tech teams to ensure that every package flows through an “optimal” path that meets customer expectations while minimizing cost. What you’ll do:
- Deliver ShipBob’s transit time, cost, and quality goals through a robust and dynamic configuration strategy.
- Create clear standard operating procedures that will limit volume to under-performing carriers, maintain volume share targets tied to financial incentives, and protect against customer or merchant-facing issues such as label failures or stuck orders.
- Partner closely with Forecasting and Network Strategy to create aligned volume plans that meet our cost and quality goals.
- Support carrier and middle mile lane launches through the development and publication of robust, cross functional plans.
- Develop and maintain a “single source of truth” for key configuration inputs including transit times, critical pull times, operating clocks, and capacity configurations.
- Own reporting tied to carrier volume share actuals versus plan, reasons for lost attainment by optimal carriers, and volume caps for under-performing carriers by ZIP5.
- Partner with Product and Technology teams to improve order allocation and carrier assignment as well as create new decision dimensions/criteria that improve customer experience or reduce cost.
- Other duties/responsibilities as necessary.
What you’ll bring to the table:
